They are a waste of money. Try Phillips Vision Plus bulbs if you want to see better.

I use the Sylvania SilverStars Well Worth The Money. I Have No Problem Seeing At Night Even With My Dark Shield On The Helmet. I've Even Had Friends Complain There To Bright Without Using The Brights

There Also A WhiteLight Not That Blue Crap That's Out There On The Cheaper Bulbs. I've Had Them Before In My 929 3-100 Watt Bulbs And Couldn't See For **** At Night.

Re: Xenon Headlights

The lighting element of HID lamps, aka true xenons, is an actual capsule of xenon gas. It is not a filament in a coated bulb. Any standard replacement bulb isn't going to be HID or have HID level outputs. A standard HID uses half the power of a halogen (filament in inert halogen atmosphere) bulb but is 5 times brighter. That's what you're seeing in Lexuses, Mercedes, Acura, Audi, Porsche and the like.

+1, if your going to spend bucks on the 'bulbs' you might as well get true HID, not HID look.

So, a real xenon won't work on my bike?

Re: Xenon Headlights

I was able to obtain a true HID head light sytem from a BMW and install it in the middle. This light is so bright I rarely use the high beam. Actually the high beams really don't add that much light anyway with the current HID installed.

It was some doing to get all the components on the bike. Not do you have the bulb but you also have to find a spot for the balast. My particualr system had two different balast for one bulb.

Got it.

It was in RiDE Issue 106 (on sale 29/1/2004 to 24/2/2004) pages 52 - 57, 37 Bulbs were tested in two categories, H4 Bulbs and H7 Bulbs. I can only assume that these bulbs will fit your bike.

I couldn't find a RiDE website, the best I can do is the RiDE mag subscription page

Damn fine mag with heaps of reviews of accessories. Very worthwhile.

I prefer the term "prolific" to "post whore", and once again it was all quality.

I believe the 929 has 1 H4 for the lowbeam, and 2 H7's for the high beams.

They are all identical bulbs, H7 for all 3. Only diffrence from the low and high beams is the reflector.

Re: Xenon Headlights

I basically want a white light that won't decrease my night vision. I don't like the yellow light that the stock lights make. I also don't want to piss off oncoming traffic. I don't want to rewire or change anything other than the bulb. I'm guessing the Syvania ones fit this description?

Yup I wish I still had the pic of the stock bulbs with the center being the SilverStar there is a BIG difference.

Me and one of my riding buddies run PIAA bulbs in our bikes. http://www.piaa.com/Bulbs/Bulbs-H7.html

The H7 ones are very nice and really bright. Unfortunately I have a single bulb in mine and the H4 has a more blue tint to it but still extremely bright

I have a couple more questions. H4 and H7. Are these numbers for sizing? What do they mean? How do I know which size I need? What wattage should I get?

Re: Xenon Headlights

H4 is a 2 element bulb... both high and low beam in one bulb. The H7 is a 1 element type used in most newer bike like the 929 and 954. One bulb for high and one for low. As for wattage I stayed with a 55w which in my case was the only size I could find anyway,

Total waste of money. HID is wonderful but you need to have the right headlamp assy to use them effectivly (eg projector lamp housing).

I hear nothing but praise for the Philips Vision Plus. That's where I'd spend my money.

I bought a set of 100w units for my 929 because I had some money from an auction that I wanted to piss away and figured it would be a cheap experiment. Man.. not only did they suck, they put out less light AND the blue stuff cooked off on initial lighting filling my headlamp house with smoke. niiiiiiiiice....

I still have them... all nice ap packed up.. I'll sell for for $10 (half of what i paid).
