Re: Got the blade on the dyno (finally)

Went to the usual 'Rally in the valley' Thursday night get together at the Arbys in Hickory. Seems they had a free dyno there from 5 to 8 tonight. Got the next to last free slot. I turned 125 rwhp. The curve was perfectly smooth. Real impressed with that part of it. Kinda disappointed with the hp number though. I have a Hindle slip on and a PCIII installed. Other than those two things - its perfectly stock. I had it dynoed one other time when I first got it bone stock and it turned 119 so I guess I gained a little. The dyno was inside an enclosed trailer and they didn't have any fans inside and it was pretty hot and humid tonight so all in all I'll take it.

If any of you guys live near Hickory and want to join us, we meet at the Arbys on 321 at the Catawba river bridge every Thursday. Tonight they even had a band. Probably about 500 bikes there tonight - pretty slow night. The crowd starts about 6 or so.

Re: Got the blade on the dyno (finally)

If you gained 6 HP, that's about a 5% increase - nothing to sneeze at I would think. And after reading all of the posts on here about dynos, which one do you believe on any given day with differing conditions? .

Re: Got the blade on the dyno (finally)

I think you have to use the same dyno after a mod. I had my 929 dynoed at 130 hp at a free dyno day at a bike shop in Charlotte. That doesn't sound like stock numbers to me.

Re: Got the blade on the dyno (finally)

Actually it was the same dyno. I had it done at a free dyno at the Suzuki place in Charlotte last spring and the same guy was at Arbys Thursday night. He has a trailer dyno. Travels around based out of Concord. So I am lucky with that aspect.

Re: Got the blade on the dyno (finally)

I have a micron s/o and PC3, originally after getting the map done I turned 134hp at 65 degrees. Just redyno'd yesterday with the dyno room at 90 degrees and only turned 128hp. Dyno operator said a 30 degree difference is good for around 5-10 hp drop since the computer adjusts the mixture. So I'd be happy with the numbers you got if it was wicked hot.

Yes, I have a black tail section and a black front fender now too. *I like the look. *Going to change the fireblade stickers on the tail to white instead of the dull red.

Re: Got the blade on the dyno (finally)

SAE? Or actual? If you are using actual nimbers, from one dyno run to the next, the previous numbers mean little. Ten degree difference, humidity etc... all can contribute to good, or bad numbers.

Re: Got the blade on the dyno (finally)

Just had my bike dynoed again this past weekend. It hit 131hp SAE bone-stock. I'm happy with that.

My bro's 1998 F3 w/ pipe and jet kit hit 97hp SAE. That's with 18k miles. I was a bit surprised. I had it dyno 2 years ago on the same dyno and it hit 92hp SAE and that was with 3k miles on it.
