| Re: Key, ignition problem I just started to have a problem with my key. It seems that when I put it in the ignition, it doesn't want to turn to the ON position . I have to turn it to the lock position and then turn it over to ON. Also, the key doesn't come out like it used to. I need to pull and twist for awhile to get the damn thing out. Any opinions on what is going on?? |

| Re: Key, ignition problem The key warps easily, especially if you have a tight trunk lock. Try your spare key and see if you have the same problem. (Assuming it hasn't been warped also. ) |

| Re: Key, ignition problem The keys are long & soft so they tend to bend a bit. If you get one that works properly then have a few more made up. I carry the original one the bike, a SPARE in my wallet, the 2nd original in my safety deposit box & another spare is hung up on the wall at home.

| Re: Key, ignition problem I have the exact same problem with my 01 929. Last time I was at the dealer getting new tires put on, the shop manager told me I was probably going to need to replace the ignition switch, because the key was probably going to break off in there one day and I would really be F&%#ed. Althought I have not heard to try the spare key fix, I will try that tonight and report back to you.

| Re: Key, ignition problem I had the same problem recently. Did a couple of sprays of WD40 into the ignition, put the key in and turned it a few times. Pulled it back out and did a few more squirts. Problem solved. |
