| Re: VFR swingarm conversion? I do hope so mate, coz I bit the bullet, and just brought another arm exactly like it, and now I'm another 170 quid down (About 540 bucks US) and an 04 YZF R1 Seat unit. Go on now tell me that wont fit lol
Anyway on the bright side I just received issue #1 of Custom Fighters, and its the bollocks! I can say Bollocks on here cant I? Because you Americans dont know what it means do you. Well it means its FANTASTIC. The fighters in there are superb and have a real in your face attitude about them.
We get lots of shows in good old Blighty like American Chopper and Biker Build Off, and its sooooo good to see something different other than a big V twin crammed into a one off frame. Superb fighters mates, and a top mag.
Regards to all Jonathan. |

That's the one you need!!
Now don't forget to rebuild the hub before you ride with it. |

| Re: VFR swingarm conversion? Just about to do the same too! to my 94 standard blade but I'm fitting a Triumph 955i hub in the vfr swingarm & all being well (may need to fit a spacer!) I should then be able to run with a 1994 vrf sssa & 955i hub & 955i rear wheel which takes a 190 tyre as standard so hoping I might be able to push it upto a 200 tyre but not that worried about that.
Can't wait for the parts to arrive! |

I have bought a complete 955i sssa with the wheel hub & shocker & a stripped down vfr sssa, I'd like to fit the 955i arm up to my blade but its way to wide & would need to be machined right down to get it to fit (still might consider it though) but from what I can make out the easiest path is to use the vfr arm & fit the 955i hub & then either use the 955i wheel or use the 4 stud off the vfr & fit a car wheel, not sure yet
As soon as i get the parts & start playing I will post up on this thread agian |

| Re: VFR swingarm conversion? Hi Blunt Blade,
There is a breaker in Colchester Essex called Motorcycle Recycle along the Hythe Dock road. I went in there last week and they are breaking a VFR with the right year arm you are looking for, and they are nice people too so you wont get ripped off.
Check em out on ebay, and perhaps send em an note. Good luck.
Regards,
Jonathan. |

| Re: VFR swingarm conversion? Anyone else interested in the conversion, I went into motorcycle-recycle today looking for parts for my blade as I trashed it on a track day last Tuesday, and the VFR is still there. I asked the guy when he was going to break it and he said it will be listed on ebay next week or the week after, so keep a look out |

| Re: VFR swingarm conversion? I know its not the right thread for my next question, but perhaps someone can point me in the right direction.
Anyone know where I can get the paint colour codes (I think they are called RAL numbers) for the Repsol Honda paint job.
Some one told me to get RAL numbers because the powder coater can then match up the orange on my wheels.
Regards
Jonathan. |

| Re: VFR swingarm conversion? One question, how do the wheels stay in alignment when you are putting the spacer on one side of the swingarm? I realize you need the spacer because the vfr swingarm is narrower than the cbr frame, and you need to put it on one side to keep the chain aligned, but by putting it on the one side will put the wheel 10mm to the left of the front wheel. Is this correct, cause if it is that would drive me crazy. |

| Re: VFR swingarm conversion? I have a guy in Colchester going to weld me up a link pipe for my CBR to R1 exhaust.
The 10mm thing I was totally unaware of matey, I have seen how to do the conversion on this forum and just went out and did it. It looks fine, but I have no idea if it will affect the handling. Most people that have don the conversion say not.
I'll let you know. |

| Re: VFR swingarm conversion? I don't know for sure, but I was mostly thinking aloud. Here is an exagerated example to show my reasoning. Say the vfr is 30cm wide, and the swingarm is centered in the frame, and the chain is lined up. Now you put the swingarm in a frame that is 100cm wide, and in order to keep the chain aligned, you need to put a 70cm spacer on the right side, essentially pushing your wheel 35cm to the left. Now your wheel, although still centered in the swingarm, is not centered in the frame.
I may be way off though, if the swingarm is not centered in the vfr frame. |
