| Re: FI and Warning light When you turn the bike on there should be a pattern of long and short blinks. This will be the code that will indicate where to look. Count the long and short blinks and someone with a manual should be able to help you out. |

| Re: FI and Warning light OK, from the '02 954 manual:
The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) will start blinking only with the sidestand down and with the engine off (Engine stop switch in RUN) -or- engine revs are below 5,000 rpm. In any other conditions the MIL will illuminate and stay on.
Then you count the long blinks and the short blinks.
IF you're doing this and the MIL stays lit, :
you have either:
Short circuit in the service check connector,
Faulty ECM.
Short circuit in the service check connector wire.
by the way, the book says in these conditions the symptom is that the engine operates normally.
Don't know if this applies to a f4i

| Re: FI and Warning light Yer Welcome !
Chekman, if you do get blinks, the long ones count as 10 and the short ones count as 1. Post your results ( if any) and I'll look up the error code. |

| Re: FI and Warning light Yesterday at work, I started it up to let it warm up.Sence it was parked there all week, and it died.I restarted it and it was caughing and blowing black smoke.I was standing on the side and revved it up a little and a lot of smoke came out of it,so I nailed it; and a golfball flew 30 yards, revved again, and another one flew out;revved again and another one flew out! Tried it a few more times and nothing flew out!! Wait till I see some dumbasses playing golf again when I'm riding around! |

| Re: FI and Warning light Be glad that you don't have one of those ricey grapefruit-launcher exhausts
I know what you mean, though. I had some kids vandalize my car once - egged the hell out of it, and stuffed (raw) eggs in my exhaust |

| Re: FI and Warning light True, but you gotta see what a golfball at 13,000 rpm's will do to the windshield of a 2004 Dodge Ram truck! Then two more times!! |
