| Re: Clunky shifts from 1st to 2nd Is it normal for the gears to clunk from 1st to 2nd. Depending on speed. Also when I pop it into 1st gear from neutral, it sometimes makes a loud clunk as well. |

| Re: Clunky shifts from 1st to 2nd This is one of the reasons why it clunks so much. In 1st gear when I am on the throttle. It takes a little then surges even when I release its still going for a bit. Does this go away over time, is there a fix. |

| Re: Clunky shifts from 1st to 2nd The FI on the blade is real touchy, so it takes good throttle control to not be 'jumpy'. A PCIII and a good map will help with that a little. |

BTW -- I just wanted to give you a different view point. *FWIW, your mileage may vary, don't run with sissors near a swimming pool withing 1/2 hour of eating... |

No the surge of gas comes at about 3000 rpm. And when I let off the gas it still goes a little then drops. |

Totally normal and will continue that way. *Below 3000 you are lugging the engine. *As you pass 3000 on the way up the engine finally gets a breath and takes off like it is supposed to.
At least that is my understanding.
People - correct me if I am wrong - it has happened before. |

| Re: Clunky shifts from 1st to 2nd Like everyone said, the clunking is normal on Hondas. My 954 is a clone of my 99 F4 in the way it shifts.
When you shift gears, it helps if you are matching the rpm's with the throttle hand before you release the clutch. It smooths everything out.
I'm not sure about the surge you're talking about. Is your throttle sticking? When you twist the throttle, make sure that the throttle isn't sticking. Make sure it releases back to its' original position immediately. If your grips get pushed up against the guard, it will stop your throttle from spinning freely.
Good luck with the new bike. Enjoy the Honda experience! |
