What is max battery leakage current for 929?

After repairing some crash damage, I measured leakage current (between negative battery terminal and negative battery cable) and got 1.8 mA (milliamps). No electrical components were damaged or replaced.

Service manual specifies the maximum leakage current to be 0.2 mA.

After pulling all the fuses on by one, pulling the Clock fuse dropped the leakage current down to 0.6 mA.

Only electrical mod that I have is a Power Commander.

Do I have to keep looking for another short, or is 0.6 mA leakage as low as I can expect to go?

Re: What is max battery leakage current for 929?

Will someone please test their leakage current and post the result?

With ignition off, just remove the seat, disconnect the negative battery cable and then connect your voltmeter (set up in amp-meter configuration) between the negative battery terminal and the negative battery cable. Wait about 30 seconds for the reading to stabilize. It will read about 3-6 mA, and then drop.

Thanks.

what you are seeing is probably the result of error in your meter based on the delta from the clock being removed. I'd say your system is fine.

So 1.8 mA leakage is OK? I waited 2-3 minutes after removing the clock fuse.

My all stock '01 929 with no electrical mods measures 1.87mA with the clock fuse in, and 0.59mA with the clock fuse out. Almost identical to your numbers.
