Thanks for answering the question before I had to ask it. Although the stuff you highlighted, I've never seen in any of my Hondas, the rest of that gritty, oily crap was all over the inside of my F2 after I put in the K&N, and my turbo diesel truck had the same thing (also K&N).

Just something to think about....

That black spooge is not from the factory, it's carbon buildup and completely normal . Spray it with carb cleaner and use an old tooth brush to scrub it off. Blow out the throttle bottles with compressed air while the butterflys are open.
