Re: Another clutch failure

A few of the regulars may remember me asking about my mates clutch failure on his 24000 klm 2000 929 (the link)

Well yesterday he brought the bike around and pulled the clutch cover off and found the clutch rod had broken just like the pic scorch had posted on 06/26/03 (his link)

Just wanted to know has anyone else suffered the same problems, maybe this is going to be a common thing.

Is the clutch rod the same on the 954?

Re: Another clutch failure

Thanks for posting picture. I was going to ask you if you had clutch recall done on bike or if your pike was a later model that included clutch fix. This clutch actuator rod is one of the pieces that is replaced in recall. The recalled part is hollow the replacement is solid shaft. After looking at your pictures, it looks like you have the solid shaft and it failed anyway, at the base where load is highest and material cross section is least. So, I guess 929's with replacement shaft can still fail! Man, I thought my clutch problems were behind me!

Re: Another clutch failure

It's actually a mates 929, not sure if the recall has been done as he got it second hand.
The shaft is hollow not solid are the new ones solid?
