Some might not think thats so bad, but it was $490. prior and should've been dropping to $395. per yr.
So I call up and ask WTF? I was told that the 25% rate increase has nothing to do w/me, but my area has had an increase!
What kinda crap is that? I pay when I F-up.(which is why I was expecting a drop, I messed up a few years back and it is now off my record) and now I have to pay for other peoples mess ups too???!!!! I am so-----o steamed.
I was told that as of Nov., my main policy will be lowering and then next summer I will have a subsequent lowering on the bikes renewal!
Insurance really has us by the 'balls'. Reguardless of what type of insurance, they are all crooks!
OK, gotta go breath deeply now!
PSS. I have StateFarm in VA, any1 else having problems? |

My rates went up also, but not as astronomically as yours . I have had State Farm for quite a few years, have never had an accident with them or filed a claim - it SUCKSSSSSSSSSS! |

| Re: I hate insurance! Used to have Universal at $500 a year for full. *They were owned by Farmers Insurance Group which is owned by Zurich. *They sent me a renewal saying that Universal no longer covers bikes in Kali, but I could be covered by Foremost (owned by Zurich) for only 3K a year
I have just liability thru McGraw for $108 for the year. |

It's a rip off but I wouldn't ride without insurance (even if it wasn't illegal). |

| Re: I hate insurance! My State Farm rep told me, after I asked about the rate increase, that it was a direct -or indirect - result of 9/11. Something about where State Farm had their monies tied up, etc. I dunno... Conversation with her has been long enough ago that I don't remember the details (prolly 'cause of my age). And it doesn't matter what line of chit they feed you anyway, 'cause they're gonna have their way with your billfold no matter what. The phucking low-life, arrogant, insidious, broad daylight thieving, mutha-phucking bastards!

I get pissed at all the stunaz out there that wreck there bikes then tell the insurance company it was stolen or some other BS fraud idea. I take pride in my driving record. No tickets or accidents on mine or my wife's record. I'm with USAA and have had nothing but good times with them.
I pay $252 a year for full coverage on my 1996 RR. The funny thing is I paid less for my newer 2001 929 ($234 a year) than I do my older a cheaper 1996 900. Go figure. |

I would make that 600 a track bike and take that 2 g's and put it into startup costs for track days and racing.
I'm thinking of getting out of street riding anyway. It has been a little boring since my day at Nelson. Knee draggin' in t13 baby!!!! It doesn't get any better.

| Nope! I'm not shitting you. I just talked to my insurance agent today. I'm not paying $250/year like I thought, I'm only paying $245/year! That's for 12 months full coverage. I do get a discount for having my house and cars covered as well, but that is a kick-ass rate no matter how you look at it.
Just so you know, you can take the bike off of coverage for the winter months for those of you that have an off season like I do here. You only have to pay for the months the bike is on the road. For the price I'm paying, it's worth having the bike covered all year long. Just in case the snow and ice clear from the road for a few hours! |

Jay, I live in White Haven PA. It's near Wilkes-Barre in NE PA. I'm about an hour from Allentown.
I'm 39, with a clean accident record, and I have the house and 5 vehicles, plus the 954, covered by State Farm.
My vehicles:
2003 Honda CBR 954
2003 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab
2001 Ford Escape
1998 Mazda MPV
1995 GMC Jimmy
1990 Cadillac Seville
If they made a mistake with my rate, I'll never tell! |

| Re: I hate insurance! Here in NJ insurance it tightly regulated and they have to get their rate increases approved by the State Insurance Commision. This is easy to do because the cost of running a business goes up every year. The Insurance co. has to give employees pay raises, health care increases, gas, computer equipment etc. They have to raise rates to break even. State Farm used to send me a check every year since they are a mutual company and had left over premiums at the end of the year. That hasn't happened in a while and I continue to get increases. I still pay far less than most people I know. Blame it on:
Higher cost of vehicle repairs, parts are far more expensive now, as is operating a body shop.
Fraudulent claims still are a huge problem in NJ
More idiots on the road riding motorcycles, talking on the phone, curling hair, reading the paper. A car isn't just transportation anymore! |

| Re: I hate insurance! I pay $500 a year but then again I only have about 5-10 days a year I can't ride. So I think it's a good deal in that respect. I think if you live in Seattle and can only ride 2 months out of the year in the dry then your getting ripped off at $350 |

| NJ also has an unlimited ceiling for suing, which is the biggest reason for high insurance.
My girl used to work for Geico and thats why they pulled out of NJ. Most insurance companies don't even wanna bother with such a risk of potentally extra high settlements. |

| Not entirely true, You can select the Tort Threshhold when you purchase your policy. It limits your ability to sue for personal injury. You have to meet one of 6 or 7 criteria to sue Ex: loss of limb, medical bills in excess of $250K etc. Selecting this does reduce your rates by a decent amount. I have Zero Tort, and have been hit twice where it was the other parties fault, and didn't sue anyway. I could save a bundle but you never know. |
