| Chain/sprocket recommendations? It's that time, I need to replace everything. I am either going to stay w/ stock sizes or go a little bigger in the rear.
Please let me know what you guys are running and what you think. I would like to get my gearing at least a little shorter because 75+ MPH in 1st gear is a little rediculous. I would still like my top speed to be over 155 however. I'm thinking maybe +2 rear w/ a 520 O-Ring. I'm looking for brand recommendations here as well.
I do a good bit of 2nd gear throttle wheelies so something half durable is a must. Thanks in advance you guys are great. |

| Re: Chain/sprocket recommendations? Try 15/44 I am running that w/ Vortex sprockets and a DID X-ring chain and am very happy.
I hope you were kidding about your last comment if not you may want to find another board to frequent! Because you won't get much support here... |

I thought it was obvious that the running from cops thing was a joke. Everyone settle down and lets talk about sprockets. |

| Re: Chain/sprocket recommendations? OK, I'll contribute. I doubt your 929 went much over 155 stock, let alone with a gearing change from 2.69 to 2.82 final ratio.
As far as needing to still be able to do "a good bit of 2nd gear throttle wheelies ", I can't help you there. |

The 929 has been proven to do over 160 out of the box on radar. Here is an article saying so. http://www.sportrider.com/bikes/146_...ormance_times/
With my full exhaust and PC, I can probably exheed stock top speed. The reason I ask about second gear wheelies is because I don't want to get a smaller width chain and destroy it in a season.
I'm sorry that I like doing wheelies and triple digit speeds but can someone just be productive and answer my questions? |

I'm sorry that I like doing wheelies and triple digit speeds but can someone just be productive and answer my questions? | Sorry. I really don't know a whole lot about the 929 and it's performance capabilities or timing one on radar and sprockets and gear ratios and stuff.
Oh and I especially don't know anything about second gear power wheelies and what effect a gearing change would have on top speed.
I'll let the people who know about all this stuff step in and lend you a hand . . .
I'm puzzled about your link. The only 929 listed doesn't show the top speed: CBR929RR ('00) 6/00, 8/00, 12/01 10.31 @ 134.50 3.37 3.08 n/a

| Re: Chain/sprocket recommendations? A 520 will hold up to a 929 just fine (and it is 'smaller' than the stock which I think is a 530) As far as gearing I do not have a 929. Do a search on gearing calculator and with that and a manual you can calculate approxiamate top speeds for different combinations. As far as brand I installed AFAM on the RC but do not have the miles to give an opinion yet.
Also look into a steering dampener if you keep doing wheelies as it might help stop a tank slapper one day. (It also is good for normal riding)
EDIT: And your link has the 929 as N/A

| Re: Chain/sprocket recommendations? Just do a -1 +2 and you will be fine. As for recklessness, that doens't go well here.
Yes, everyone here get's anal when speaking of wheelies, stunts, and evading an officer. Playing is great off the streets, just don't do it illegally.
We like to see our insurance premiums low as well as the Sportbiker death toll. |

| I thought radar guns were not tested on bikes, and are inaccurate at best (UK Motorcyclemews clocked a stationary Blade at 40mph using US designed/manufactured RADAR gun used by UK Police!) . Anyhow a 918 will clock >155 even allowing for 10% overread on the speedo.
Stay standard and get RK O ring chain and Sunstar sprockets, fit and forget. (Oh ya, still lube it though!) |

| Re: Chain/sprocket recommendations? I have an Rk 15/43 520 kit on a 929. Thats one down on the front from stock. Not sure what the top end is but the speedo said 284 km. I was bouncing of the rev limiter in 6th while my buddy on his 05 r1 walked the dog from me on the 401 a couple days ago. Im putting a 180 55 back tire on and hope the slightly taller tire will help out a bit. |
