Keeping the old 929

Well after seeing those pics of the new blade,I'm not sold on trading up.
Do you really think for street riding there would be a huge difference. At least a modified 929/954 vs stock 04.
yes the new is always cooler but *WTF...
My riding buds and I have riddin with guys with all the fancy stuff but get them in the 130mph twisties and see ya, I guess the odd roll on at 2am or drag test might prevail, time will tell.
Any thoughts?

Good choice, and if you start getting an itch anyways, 954's will continue to get cheaper even as your own bike starts to plateau, so you might give one of those a try at little cost.

My 929 is better now than it was when new. I see no reason to want to upgrade, but I don't have to buy the latest thing out there just because there is something newer that a couple more hp. Doesn't make the ride any more fun.

I don't have the talent of 1% of the racers so why bother upgrading, can't even take advantage of the 'performance' my machine has or ride it to it's full potential.

Remember, those still aren't official pics And it probably looks better in person. I wasn't too amazed with the 600rr pictures either 'til I saw/sat on one

I agree 100%. If I needed a new bike right now, I'd certainly consider the CBR1000RR, along with other bikes, but I've got a 929 right now, and I certainly don't have the skills to exploit it's capabilities, and I don't see the need to spend the $$$ even if the new bike is a lot better than mine.

I agree totaly about using the full potential, not even close.
There's a great artical in the new SR on just this new VS old, good reading, Let's hope the 1000 will look more like the 600
(For my taste anyway).

The blade engine is good for 100K kms before a rebuild. Half of the bikes for sale have under 20K on the clock, WTF? The bikes aren't even run in properly. I've had my blade for 3 years and hve done 45K kms and I recon the bike is good for another 3 years at least. I love the new models but can't justify spending 10 grand every couple of years just to have the latest and greatest. If I could afford it I would but....

Sort of with you on the latest. I still have a '97 Yamaha YZF600r I put a lot of hrs on besides my '00 929 & the latest does not excite me one bit.

Yeah, i'm not selling my 929 anytime soon, its paid off, its fast and its beautiful damnit!

Yeah...part of the ego says ...MUST HAVE NEW BLADE....but WTF, had cheap '00 for 18 month....bolted on a few goodies....and getting comfy with it. I prolly be slower on a 1000....! Plus it'll be a while before aftermarket stuff is out. I pass for now.....

I put 15,000 miles on my 929 in the last 14 months since I got it, and I'm gonna ride it til the wheels fall off! Then I'll get the new 1,000, in its second or third generation when they have all the bugs worked out.
