Re: exhaust ?

ok your question is pretty confusing. are you asking if you can put a car muffler on your bike? if so don't even bother trying. all those ricer exhausts for cars are garbage usually. and the good ones like HKS and Denso probably have diameters way too large for your bike (on top of being expensive).

go with an exhuast thats made for the bike.

Re: exhaust ?

Why are you considering this? If it's for performance then like any modification you'd want it on a Dyno before and after which would answer your question. With bike end cans most manufacturers seem to supply the same can with fittings according to the bike so you could argue that a performance part for a car could be good for a bike, but if the bikes set up for a stock exhaust your modification will may well need some Dyno time to get it right.

How much does it weigh? How long is it? What type of mounting bracket is available? Will it mount at an acceptable angle with regard to the layout of the bike?

A performance exhaust system is reasonably complex and many factors must be taken into account. Simply slapping a cannister on the mid pipe because you can doesn't mean it will perform even as well as the stock system, especially since the stock system was designed as a package of integrated pieces designed to work in concert with each other and the engine.

If you don't know enough about exhaust system design to know if it will work or not, chances are it won't perform up to your expectations . . .

basically what I was getting at.

just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Re: exhaust ?

it sounds like your only concern is possibly sound, and having another coffee can on a 4 cylinder is a definitly a bad thing, and why would you even consider it. you may be on the wrong forum, this is for honda motorcycles, not honda civics.
