| Help!!!! Vibration at certian rpms I have a 2001 929rr with 23k miles on it. I have been reading the threads on vibration and I haven't read one that describes this. I have the same problem as most with the vibration at 5k no big deal. The problem that I'm having is that around 9k to almost 10k I can hear a very annoying vibration from the airbox/engine area. At 10k until redline it's not there. With the bike upright, if you lean your body to the left ot right you can't hear the sound. It's only when you in riding position. I have a Sato Racing full exhaust, the airbox mods, pair valve block off plates and an APE MCC tensioner. I have recently done a valve clearance check and they were fine. What could be causing this noise at that particular RPM. The bike is running great not stumbling at the above RPMs due to the vibration/noise. If you guys have experienced this please let me know what the fix was. Thanks for the info. |

| Re: Help!!!! Vibration at certian rpms cam chain tensioner, do a thread search on that and you may find your answer.

| Re: Help!!!! Vibration at certian rpms Could be the CCT...could be the exhaust...or could be something as simple as the airbox vibrating. Kind of hard to diagnose over the internet.

| Re: Help!!!! Vibration at certian rpms I've already replaced the cam chain tensioner with the unit from APE, so I would hope that's not the problem. What in the exhaust could create that noise? I've already checked the airbox - it's good. |

| Re: Help!!!! Vibration at certian rpms My airbox vibrates and creates a buzzing sound at certain rpm's.. darn thing is finicky about the way it wants to be put on just perfect or it makes that vibration. If it's not affecting your power in any rpm range, my guess is it's just some part of the bike vibrating, like the airbox or whatever.
You said you have the airbox mod? Maybe something came loose there or isn't on all the way. |

| Re: Help!!!! Vibration at certian rpms Well I put the heat shrink on the springs Saturday. I rode it today to work and the vibration/nosie @ 9k has been cut in half. Also in general the noise of the bike has went down considerable. I guess that the vibration in the exhaust of the springs really causes a heck of a lot of noise. I can defiantly deal with this noise a lot better than the other noise. Thanks for all the help.
