Noisy HTEV valve prob or not???

I started my bike up today and when I revved it up I noticed that the Exhaust valve was much noisier than usual aroung 4K rpms and after that it quiets down again. Is This a sign that I need to replace it? IS it getting too worn out? Will it affect performance? or should I just forget about it and drive it? I know the bike is a known for noises but its pretty loud now and I dont like it. I let it warm all the way up too 217 and it didnt get any quieter. its olny when I rev it up even If I rev it slowly you can hear it start to rattle then it quiets down.

Thanks for all the help

Check the adjustment of the cables, maybe it has broken? Mine is somewhat noisy,so I adjusted it and it helped some, not much. If you need the manual, do a search on fireblades.org and you should be able to find it,If you can't email me and well work something out.You should have it to adjust it correctly. Good luck.

Looks like it's time for a new full exhaust

Re: Noisy HTEV valve prob or not???

I've found a lot of times when a noise is present at only a certain RPM it's due to vibration. Possibly a cable that likes to now vibrate at 4,000 rpm Maybe a part on the valve assembly needs to be tightened a little. Just my best guess here. If your bike's problem ends up being a vibrating exhaust valve cable, try using a zip tie.

My airbox has a wicked vibration at certain RPM's - it rubs on the bottom of the fuel tank. I plan on adding some foam rubber to the bottom of the fuel tank next time it comes off for maintenance.
