Jetting/technical advice sought.

Hi All

My 95 Blade RRS is running abit poo. Its got a bit ""buzzy", which I think is a bit of a misfire?

Current set up. It has a race can, dj kit, K&N and apparently some head work has been done? The MJs are 122s, needle clip is on the middle setting. pilots are 40s. Mixture screws are wound out 2.75 turns.

Here's how the bike runs. It starts ok and will run without choke from the outset although it prefers choke to break into life.

When warmed up it feels very lumpy at up to 1/4 throttle then starts to improve and eventually as the revs gets past 6-7k it takes off like a scalded cat.

But if you snap the throttle open at say 3k it bogs down badly before trying to pull. You realy feel it dip and lose power momentarily before climbing out of the hole it just dug itself.

If you draw out the revs in say 2nd or 3rd gear to 4-6k with approx 1/8 -1/4 it gets so lumpy it actually misfires.

So based on the above what do you think is wrong?

Many thanks.

Dunno about your question, these things are best figured out by the dyno operator.

I am the tech expert in South Africa for a Dirtbike forum - this is classic case of out with the old in with the new - think of it like owning woman - every few years you need to replace them, they get loose & tired & start to miss fire.

With an old bird you can snap the throttle they get very angry about that same as a bike - they become non performers.

I trust this advice will help you with both woman & bikes

Hello Mate. 'ows it going?

Aye, I know the dyno is the right way but I want to play with it first, especially as its my first IL4 that i've messed about with. Kinda nice to get a feel for it this way.

Eye not bad thanks.

Carb balance is important, and pretty easy to do but anything more than that & i'm stumped.

Every time started messing around with the jetting on my old Gixxer, whatever I did it just ended up making it worse lol, I dont bother any more, just pay for someone who knows what they are doing.
