| Re: spark plug help - Remove gas tank and air box
- Disconnect coils and move them out of the way
- Remove rubber mat around the coils
- Remove air deflector
This will give you the easiest access to the plugs. Conversely you could try to remove them without taking any of this apart, but you won't be able to torque them down properly and you'll have one heck of a time getting them in/out. I use NGK Iridium plugs and buy them from NAPA instead of the stealership. Identical plug but they only cost me $9/plug from NAPA. |

| Re: spark plug help buy the hines manual, it is amazing it will show you how to do it, tell you what to use, and if you ever do anything else with the bike it will be in there, trust me its a great 30 or 40 dollar investment |

| Re: spark plug help there are many reasons.... if they get fouled out by the bike running rich which is getting to much fuel or maybe burning oil, or they are running to hot, cause either the bike is running lean or they are the wrong tempurature spark plugs, or they do just get old as well, if you get a little tool that tests gap, normally the sell them for your key chain its just a little round device you can check the gap, many times after the get older or if the are running hot the gap changes for many reasons, a lot of times you can bend it back a touch to close or open the gap to the correct distance as well. hopefeull this helped a little and you understood all of it. |
