2000 929 will not start????

Ok im new to the 929 world, and glad to part of it. This is what I got. I just bought the bike and it had bad gas in it. It ran for a few days, was a little rough. I took the gas tank off, and drained all the gas out. Check everything while it was off, all looks good. When I put the tank back on and hooked everything back up (with new gas in it) it cranks but doesn't start. So far I have check all the fuses and they are all good. Checked the battery, good there and charged. Fuel pump works fine, disconnected the fuel like and turned on and pushed gas with no problems. Thought it was flooded and took everything off to let it air out. Still doesnt start. No lights or anything. I am lost. Checked the spark plugs, looked dry and clean. Can smell gas in the tail pipe, just doesnt want to start, cranks but no running. I have done just about everything I can think of, even tried the kick stand and tip over switch, and a push start LOL. I am really lost. Any help would be great. Thanks in Advance......Alan

Did you check to see if the plugs were firing while you had them out?

Sorry I'm not of any help here really but welcome anyway

Re: 2000 929 will not start????

If the engine has been flooded with fuel change the oil and put a few drops in the cylinders before doing the compression test. If there is significant fuel in the oil it can affect compression and excessive fuel in the cylinders will drastically reduce compression. Make sure the fuel pump is disabled when you do the compression test as the injectors may continue to add more fuel to the cylinders while you are cranking for the test. I know you said the plugs were dry but you will probably need new ones.

Re: 2000 929 will not start????

Well I figured it out, Been awhile since I posted. Here's what the problem was. Well the plugs were dry, however they were fuel fouled. It also had way too much gas in the cylinders. So I let it air out for a day and changed the plugs and boom runs great. But now I got all that fixed took it out for a few weeks and guess what, Somehow not sure how. My back rim cracked LOL. Go figure, the good new's I found one on Ebay really cheap so once that comes in I have to swap everything over and I should be back in business. Thanks for eveyone's help.
