| kinda pissed, but what would you do. i just received the chain sprocket combo from the states to toronto ( here) it took longer than expected, but the thing that pisses me off is that the sprocket is for a cbr1000 ( 04 - 06) 42 teeth. now it may fit the bike ( 929) but 1 tooth down is what i'm not liking. i ordered stock ( 43 i think). you guys think i'll notice a difference if i just keep the 42 teeth, or should i return it and get the 43 teeth. my current chain is really on it's last legs and i shouldn't take a chance, but riding season is within a week away and i already waited too long to get the combo.
anyone ride with 1 tooth down in the rear before on the 929??
i guess a longer first gear wouldn't be too bad. i don't use the bike on the track. |

| Re: kinda pissed, but what would you do. I run 2 teeth down in the rear because I travel on freeways alot and wanted to keep the rpms down under 5 grand in 6th gear at freeway speeds. There is no compromise in acceleration hardly at all, 1 toothe up front is equivalent to almost 3 in the rear. No big deal just keep it... |

| Re: kinda pissed, but what would you do. if you put it on and hate it you will play hell getting it returned. Keep it in the box (or at least off the bike) call them and tell them to get their **** together and get you the right part before you have to break your foot off in someones a*s (might not take you seriously though... being from Canada and all (sorry had to do it)) |

| Re: kinda pissed, but what would you do. Unless you are always drag racing you shouldn't notice much difference. Your rev's will be slightly lower in each gear. I would stick on on and live with it for now. Bitch with the company you bought it from and perhaps get a freebee or a discount. |

Apart from the consumer rights angle, to be honest, I wouldn't be too worried - all of us with the Euro-version bikes have been riding with the 16/42 combo for ever...its standard from the factory that way.
I've dropped to a 15/42 520 set-up and love it...but I really don't think you'll notice too much of a difference between a 43 or 42 tooth rear - the only thing you'll have to watch is that your speedo will indicate 2.4% slower than it currently does (that's not to say it'll be incorrect as unless you've had it checked it could well be out by that much or more already !)...
If you can get over the "the #@!&*^% didn't give me what I paid for" issue then I bung it on the bike and make a point of note dealing with that supplier ever again.
Cheers, Spanky. |

| Re: kinda pissed, but what would you do. Just went thru the same thing, my buddy ordered the wrong sprocket (42 tooth). But further investigation found that a bunch of parts catalouges are listing stock gearing as 16/42 so the "Seller" was just using the same parts books as everyone else with the wrong or EURO gearing instead of the North American gearing. I took it back and got the 43 tooth rear, good luck. |

| Re: kinda pissed, but what would you do. i decided to keep the sprocket. i guess the 1 tooth down won't be too bad, and i called them up, they'd still have to order the sprocket and then deliver it and i don't want to wait. they we nice enough on the phone so i forgive them. who knows i may like the taller first gear |

I was just looking for a new chain and saw both combinations listed in the same catolog as stock. All of us should pay special attention to any sprocket orders we place as obviously the manufactures have no idea. |
