Metzler M1 vs M3

I have a ton of friends who roll the m3 but none of them ride nearly as hard as I do. Im currently running a 1300 mile old and 80% worn out m1 on the back and a totally worn out Perelli Diablo on the front (4000mi)

While I love the m1, it heats up fast and is going to be totally bald in 2000 miles. Most of the rides I go on have ample time for warmup so I dont need a super hot tire.

So is the m3 going to last a bit longer and just take a bit longer to warm up or is it the same or ??? I cant get a decent answer out of anybody locally even @ the shops.

I actually really liked the Diablo's and am very tempted to go back (2700mi Rear 4000+ front)

Ive owned the bike for 2 months today and Im @ 4150 miles, so $$$ is also becoming an issue. Does anybody know of a good online source for tires?

What do you all think? M1 vs M3 vs Diablo? Dont talk to me about pilot powers, those are for people who go through 1 set of tires a year or have too much $$$.

Thanks,
Morgan...

Re: Metzler M1 vs M3

My preference is the M3. Handling is better than the M1 and they heat up just as fast. Tyre life is more or less the same - maybe marginally in favour of the of the M3. M1's are cheaper though as they are effectively been replaced by the M3's. Diablo's are good as well but M3's are better.

This analysis is based on experience on my much heavier BM. The K1200S is not very friendly with tyres - approximately 3500 km (2174 miles) on a rear set. Over the last year I experiment a bit with different brands (only high performance tyres were evaluated so long life tyres were not part of the test) and the M3's are the best.

It seems the lighter Blade is less susceptible to subtle changes between brands and I can't say I can feel a hughe difference between the Diablo's and Pilot Power 2CT's

Of current tires: I've used the M3, Diablo and Pilot Power.

I must say: the Pilot Power has them beat hands down everywhere including longevity.
