| Chain stretch or warped sprocket? When I push my bike, since it doesn't run currently (see post what pisses you off) there are spots where my chain is realy tight. I've looked at this before and adjusted the slack, I thought. Is the chain stretched in a certain spot or is there a chance the sprocket is out of round? |

| Re: Chain stretch or warped sprocket? That sounds like stuck links.

| Re: Chain stretch or warped sprocket? NO, I mean the slack disapears in some spots, still think stuck links? I dunno. If i adjust the slack and then push the bike 5 feet it seems to bind. If the links are stuck is there anyway to fix it. I do keep the chain clean and lubed. The sprocket doesn't show much wear, but it is the stocker with 17000 miles. I already know I need a new one but I have some other issues that need my attention first and will eat my funding currently. Is this even safe to ride on? |

| Re: Chain stretch or warped sprocket? At all the spots where the stuck links come in contact with the sprocket it will feel tighter. Then when the stuck links are in between sprockets you will feel the slack. I'm not guaranteeing that it is the solution but it is where I would start looking first. You have to go around the chain link by link and move each of them by hand to see if they all will freely move.
