After six years my 929 is acting goofy, i was wondering if someone can help.
A couple times wile riding the speedo,odometer and trip just stop working. i searched and looks like i might have a faulty speedo sensor i'm thinking. I'm also having a FI light that is going on somtimes also a red light below it thats staying on.
I shut it off and restart it and everything is fine. I believe the big red light blinked once maybe, when i just started it now. Is the red light supposed to blink or the fi light to show errrors? I'm confused, the bike runs fine though.
I pulled the speedo sensor, everything looked fine including the o ring put it back and still no speedo.

Both the red light and FI should light up when the key is turned forward at the same time you hear the fuel pump but both should go off within a few seconds. The red light will then come back on until the bike is started but go off when the engine fires. Make sense?

I had same issue - speedo would cut out sometimes, eventually stopped working completely and FI light came on. Replacing speed sensor fixed it. Pain to get to though.. not a lot of room to work.
