Clunk when shifting from 1st to 2nd

I hope this doesnt seem like a stupid questions. But I am having a problem with my 03 954. everytime i shift from 1st to 2nd gear there is a clunk. which sounds just like when u go from N to 1st. every gear after 2nd sounds fine. i thought maybe it was my shifting but have tried other bikes, zx12r,gsxr750, zx9r, cbr f3. and they dont make that sounds. i have asked other people and they keep telling me they dont notice it and that its me. So my questoin is. Is it really me or the bike. I have tried with full clutch ,less clutch and still clunks but when i do do clutchless it sounds fine. I am the second owner. Sorry this got so long.

Oh Damn sorry I didnt search it right. Thank you very much for the link and for saving me from doing something stupid. I already had the Manual out and looking on how to take off the clutch cover.

Re: Clunk when shifting from 1st to 2nd

I have an 01 929 and I have been questioning it too. It seems to clunck hard from N to 1st. After that on the upshift it is smooth. On the way down it is smooth. Until I get to first again. Is that normal? Do I have the cable adjusted wrong? Should I have the dealer look at it? I don't mean to steal this thread, but it is related...

I dont know anything about your year of blade, but 2 things spring to mind with clunky gears... 1 is your chain tentioned correctly and 2 if you've dropped your bike then it could be the gear selector prongs that need changing..ofcourse i could just be talkin out my backside, cos i normaly do
