| well today was the day... pushed the front tire in some heavy gravel and was on my side in an instant. didn't even have time to put my foot down. next to zero MPH turning into a driveway. anyhoo, footpeg landed on my ankle and the rest of the bike on my knee. gunna be sore tomorrow. not really any damage save some scratches, pisses me off though.

Years ago pulled into a gas station on my Harley sportster. Came to a full stop and put my foot down. My leg slipped on a little slick spot and I dropped the bike. Burned my leg just above the boot (exhaust pipe), bent the handlebars and broke the turnlight lens. |

| Re: well today was the day... sorry to hear about that! "near zero mph" seems to be a troublesome speed. on the selfish tip, at least I'm not the only one that's happened to. glad to hear neither you or the bike were seriously injured. |

| Re: well today was the day... I did the same thing on my 929 about 7 years ago in college. I had my wife (girlfriend at the time) on the back and was pulling out of my apartment parking lot and hit gravel or something going about 1 or 2 mph...I was pissed! Cracked my stator cover, scratched fairing and bar end. Also saw a dumbass with a 600RR try to push start his bike while I was at my motorcycle safety course and he lost his footing and fell...so did the bike going about 2 or 3 mph! He said he did it all the time instead of buying a new battery...idiot. |

| Re: well today was the day... When my bike was my friends I always borrowed it. The battery was dead and since he didn't ever ride it he never bought one. Anytime I borrowed it I had to push start it, kinda embarrasing but anyone who gave me funny looks got the "it's a race bike" shpeal. |

| Re: well today was the day... I hate push starting. Did once on the 929, had to jump on the seat in 3rd so the tire wouldn't slide.
I've had the tire slide out on me with the old 73 'zuk, cracked the battery cover, haven't done it since at least partly because I'm extra paranoid about it. Every time I go near loose gravel the hair on the back of my neck stand up. One of the counselors where I work had a DL1000 broke his ankle when he did it. That bike's too tall anyway. |
