| Re: 2008 Fireblade I'll probably buy one just because Triumph doesn't offer a liter bike anymore, and I have always been an honest fan of Honda's products and business practices. I believe that this bike will do all of the things Honda has hoped in the racing genre, unfortunately, I fear that the the all-around rider (daily commutes/interstate trips/occasional track days) will lose the comfort that Honda has offered over it's competition for so long. I also fear that a good after market can will cost as uch as one of my carbines--not cool. All that said, I am sure that a spirited ride lies in my future. |

The new Gsxrs look mighty grim too. Why are manufacturers sticking horrible pipes on their bikes? you have to go and fork out on carbon before you can ride the thing in public!
(sorry thats a separate subject) reg: 2008 Blade - dont like it but i dont like the new cbr600 either (yeah, yeah, i know it rocks) |

'First post' Hi, current bike MV1000R and looking around due to MV's very poor aftersales service.
200kg's with full tank of fuel, that's very light, can you imagine how much weight it will lose once the after market zorst people design something new without all the cat stuff? |

The tail section is not much bigger then the actual back seat and it ends in front of the back edge of the tire, while the front of the fairing came back several inches towards the steering head. Its thinner in the knees then the 07 and noticably lighter, I run a honda shop so I'm fairly familiar with the current 1000rr and this thing is in a whole new class as far as packaging and tidyness. I have always found the 1000rr a little long in the arm reach for my tastes, I liked the 929 and 954 better in that respect and this bike feels more like those sitting positions. The seat is like the new 600rr seat, it got softer and rounder at the front so its a little easier to move around on. I'm 6ft and long in the legs and I felt right at home on it, good body position for canyon ridding, short and agressive. If the power and weight specs work out to be accurate, this thing is going to be a rocket. I hope that answers your question. |

| Re: 2008 Fireblade Yes, thank you - appreciate the insight. I'm by no means sold on the looks, but if Honda can do for the 1000 what it did for last year's 600 it will be a very good machine. It sounds like they're on the right track.
Have you heard anything regarding limited availability on the black model? My dealer had not heard that production would (might?) be limited in black. Still can't determine whether it's real or just a rumor...
Thanks again. |

| Re: 2008 Fireblade When I made my order, the all black bike was on a seperate form and I was only allowed to order 1, so yes the black is a special edition and will be available in limited quantities. There is a silver and black that looks real good as well as a yellow black that I think is my favorite of the US colors. The looks take a little getting used to but wait till you can see it in person to pass judgment, its quite a stunner in the flesh. |

I've often wondered how a dealer's allocation is determined - figured it was mainly a case of getting whatever the manufacturer decides to send. I'm kinda partial to the European black/white color scheme, but not enough to move overseas.
All in all I'm encouraged and excited by what I'm hearing. Looks like my '06 is a short timer... |

if you want to see some angles and the bike in action, your local dealer should have recieved a dvd with the little video they showed us at convention, ours came about two weeks ago. Its nothing too special but at least you can see it in action and hear it run |

| Re: 2008 Fireblade What's up with Honda Canada not releasing the price on the 08 CBR 1000? They have put out their prices for all the other models??
Are they still watching the CAD dollar vs US dollar vs Yen and waiting as late as they can to set the price to try to avoid having all of us drive over the border to the US to save $4000? |

I know a guy from Canada on another board that is planning on doing just that. And another guy just imported an S2000 for the same reason.

I went ahead and canned the passenger pegs as well. I don't have the skills to add a passenger seat cowl or remove the mirrors/signals. (No one will ever accuse me of being a photochop pro ) 30 seconds and mspaint will give you the idea: Honda Motorcycles - FireBlades.org

Not bad éh | Looks great but would it be possible??? That black part of the original exhaust that looks like a shield is actually the exhaust itself so it would go if you change can wouldn't it??? |
