| Re: 2008 Fireblade Here is an interesting tid-bit from a Honda dealership owner on another site.
Quote:
Here is the index for the 2008 Honda Models that Honda provides to the dealer.
Typically models that are carryovers from previous years are automatically listed as there is nothing to hide.
So what is missing?
STREET OFF-ROAD DUAL-SPORT
Gold Wing CRF230F XR650L
Shadow Spirit 750 C2 CRF150R/RB-Expert
Shadow Aero CRF150F
Rebel CRF100F
CRF80F
CRF70F
CRF50F
ATV
Utility
TRX680FA/FGA (FourTrax Rincon/GPScape)
TRX500FA/FGA (FourTrax Foreman Rubicon/GPScape)
TRX500FPM/FPE with EPS (FourTrax Foreman 4x4 ES with Electric Power Steering)
TRX500FM/FE with ESP (FourTrax Foreman 4x4/ES)
Sport
TRX450R/ER
TRX300EX
TRX250EX
TRX90EX
Where are the VTX's and where are the sportbikes? Looks like the GL11800 is safe unless they add some new colors.

| Re: 2008 Fireblade Honda is really pushing the "Dream Machine" theme. I wonder if they are going to do a retro model like Ford did with the Mustang? They may be taking design ques from the 1964 Honda Dream, like this one: !964 Honda Dream 300
I hate to admit this, but I've ridden one of these before. It was rumored the reason Honda called it a "Dream" was every time you would ride it you would dream about riding something else.

Sorry but the 600rr is missing and the fact that they introduced a new one this year means zero chance that there will be a new 600rr for next year. |

| Re: 2008 Fireblade V4 Fireblade CBR 1000? Never! If they made a 1000cc V engined sportbike, Honda would add a V to the letters ala VFR, VTR, RCV211, etc. For the longest, people have been dreaming for a V5 or a hyper performing VFR, a V configured bike. In typical Honda tradition, they're sure keep an inline 1000 with the CBR designation. |

Everyone has different ideas of the "perfect" bike but the V4 has proven to make an awesome combination of torque and power. It also has a proven racing heritage and history with bikes like the RC30 (introduced '88) and the RC45 (introduced '94). HRC first was formed in 1982 and in '83 they successfully campaigned the RS850R V4. In '84 the V4 NSR500 was introduced. Currently both Honda and Ducati are successfully racing V4 MotoGP bikes. It allows smaller pistons and valves than a V-twin of the same displacement which allows higher revs yet the V formation produces more torque.
As far as the VFR it was always a very cool bike based on those same V4 racing engines. However over the years it softened, got bigger, heavier, less sporty, and then v-tech was added which definitely seemed a step in the wrong direction. While it is still a very capable sport-touring bike it has lost some of it's character, or maybe gained to much of the wrong character The pre v-tech bikes are still in very high demand and carry a premium. I know I've been shopping for one.
The V4 'blade? Probably not because the inline 4 is very popular and is slightly simpler to build and engineer. However I am all for a premium V4 superbike that would sell in the $16-20K range. That is how the RC45 was marketed back in the day. It was a slightly more exclusive bike than the 'blade and VFR.
Personally my dream bike would be a V4 600. I think the smaller bikes can benefit more from the V configuration because the V can help make up for the missing displacement. The 1000's are big enough that they produce enough torque anyway. A V4 600 would theoretically be able to acheive the same top-end power as the current 600's but would have more mid-range.
