Dyno Numbers? CBR1000RR

I have heard so many different results on dyno numbers, I was hoping people would post there's.. The reason I ask is because I good friend of mind who just got a 07 Respol 1KRR just had his bike on the dyno and it posted a 159rwhp and that was bone stock.. Seems like his engine was on roids.. I have heard numbers for the 1000RR anywhere from 148 to 155 but never 159rwhp.. My RR was almost 155rwhp bone stock.. Why are the dyno numbers so different? The dyno machine was a Superflow CycleDyno rear-wheel dynamometer... I think I spelled it right....

Also right know is a great time to get a 07 1KRR, he paid 10,000 otd..

Yep it sat in the back for 2 months in the crate... He had done a lot of business with them but it was advertised @ 10,500 to anyone... Which is still pretty cheap.. All of the other 07/1KRR's are going for $9999... thats not otd, but still a good deal also...

Dyno numbers don't mean anything unless they were done on the same dyno, at the same temperature, same elevation, etc. A guy at sea level is going to see WAY more power than a guy in my hometown which is at 4400 ft. A guy on a 70 degree day is going to see more power than someone else on an 85 degree day. Each dyno is also calibrated differently so unless you use the same dyno you results can't be compared to your friends.

Thanks alot for dyno lesson slickwill... My dyno tests and my good friends where done on the same machine... Why was his 5hp more.. Do different engines in the same kind of (1KRR) bike yield different numbers?

Slickwill is correct and that's why it's difficult to compare. They do have what's referred to as "corrected horsepower" which in simple terms is a set of mathematical formulas to correct for variances in ambient temp and pressure. Using this formula, it allows you to test changes made for performance even though it may be done on a different day with different weather conditions. Otherwise it would be impossible to compare before and after readings. Pretty neat stuff. Doing one bike after another would likely be fairly representative of power difference but doing it at another time would not unless it was corrected horsepower.

Absolutely!
That is why someone like Ten Kata gets such fast motorcycles. They get to choose from bins of pistons heads rods cranks and so on. They get the max allowable production tollerences of each and every part of the motorcycle in their favor. Like for instance, they will choose the head that is shaved to the minimum head surface for more compression. They will choose the cams with the highest lifts and longest durrations for flow. They will choose the pistons with the highest lands on them. They will choose the lightest cranks, rods, pistons, and so on. And they will all be within production tollerences.
In production, sometimes all of the best pieces get to go in one machine. That's the golden one. On the other hand, sometimes you get the turd.

a 159 on a stock 1000rr.. not sure about that.

ive got a modded bike, granted its an 04 and 10000 miles on her. ive got a custom map and hitting 161.2whp and 81.7wtq.

performance mods:
pc3 with a custom map
bmc race filters
arata titanium oval s/o
2006 velocity stacks (not blended)
modded/gutted air intake
pair mod

Its pretty commonly known that 06/07 have 5 more hp stock than the 04/05's, I saw his dyno graph.. My RR was almost 167rwhp after my mods...
The 04/05 bikes aren't really the same as the 06/07 as fas as performance goes... The 06/07 feels completely different.. I had an 04 1KRR before I got my 07 and it felt like the 06/07 was on steroids compared to my 04.. Lighter and shorter and alot more pull and power.. If you factor in weight, the 06/07 has 7 or 8 more hp stock.. 5hp just in motor and 15lbs equates to 2hp more also...

CBR1000RR ('04) 6/04 34/41/36 149.1 @ 11,500 75.9 @ 8500 466lbs 437lbs
CBR1000RR ('06) 6/06 31/39/34 158.8 @ 11,500 79.6 @ 8750 451lbs 422lbs

i beg to differ. i rode my g/f 06 with pc3 and yosh, and flapper. it was a turd compared to my modded 04.

Well I can only go by what Honda and all of the cycle magazines and tests say, and the fact I have owned both... Guess you G/F had lemon... I just couldnt believe that cycle world, motorcycle usa, sport rider, mcn and all of the other ones have it wrong and you have it right.. With respect of course.. The 06/07 RR will just flat out walk away from the 04/05s.. Thats why honda added more hp and less weight for the 06/07 models.. They were heavy and underpowered alittle.. Not just my opinion but fact... Maybe your RR is fast, im not saying that, just that the 06/07 had more hp and were lighter.. Plus you said after your mods you only hit 161 hp.. Well after my mods I was 167rwhp and all i did was pc3, flapper and full system.. Just stating facts not trying to knock your bike.. You can't go wrong either way...

none taken. and a full system on my bike should yeild another 7hp or so. i dont know, her bike didnt feel anything special. throttle responce was marginal, pick up was also.

To really get what you want out of your RR go with the full system.. You will be amazed of the difference.. I felt like my 04RR was more stable and easier to keep the front end down, its an AWSOME bike.. Where only talking about a 5-7hp... And if its red its even faster...


Post some picks of your sexy RR... Be safe... Also you really would need to be @ the track to notice the difference between the 2, in stock form of course.. I really couldn't feel a whole lot of difference at first but my lap times where much better on my 07 stock vs my 04 stock...

Yeah I just picked up a brand new 07 1KRR for $8400 otd about 3 weeks ago have 300mile on her now. I've been curious on the real horse power on these bikes.

Not sure if this is right but from what I read the 06/07's have 3% more power then the 04/05's.

WOW.. Congrats on the awsome deal.. Yes the 06/07 have 3% more hp from motor and also are 18lbs lighter.. Some 06/07 post 10more rwhp than the 04/05 but I wouldn't buy to much into that.. Different dyno's, different conditions yield different results.. One thing is for sure the 06/07 rwhp is in the 150's while the 04/05 are high 140srwhp from what I have read.. This is stock of course and subject to what i have read... Enjoy your new bike and get a pc3 and atleast a slip-on the difference is night a day..

also each bike is broken in different so they'll always be different. my first 929 felt stronger than my current one. but I have a full system and custom tune on this one now so I'm happy with it.
