You will love the exhaust system, someone in an earlier statement says that the Taylormade takes away 2 horsepower! I do not feel any horsepower loss and lets be real, who the f_ _ _ _ notices 2 horsepower, this things a rocket and if it does take away 2 horsepower I'll gladly give it for the looks and the sound! Side by side you would not feel the difference, but I don't believe there is any horsepower loss. The stock exhaust is about 89 db and the Taylormade is about 103 db. |

| Re: Fireblade 08 - Aftermarket Exhaust So, for about 5 bucks and some time I made my own GP exhaust...even though you guys told me not to. And it turns out it sounds wicked and I think I lost a little bit on the bottom end torque value but won't know for sure until sometime over the winter when I install the PCIII and have it dyno tuned to make sure I am not running to lean.
Pretty much just cut the pipe before the can and the fiberglass packing tube. Drilled a hole in the bottome of the pipe and packing tube. Welded a washer almost the same diameter of the tube onto a heavy duty bolt. Installed tube in pipe, slipped in bolt and washer and tightened down. I will post a video as soon as I can figure out my new camera and how to post it. It looks clean, sounds like what most of you pay over $300, in some cases well over that.
I am sure that I lost some backpressure but as I read here, backpressure is not required. I will prbably do your flapper mod over the winter as well but in the meantime just enjoying the new sound, very throaty but not as tinny as running just a straight pipe like you hear on youtube.
Cheers |

Thx in advance for your advices, guys!!!
Say no to undertail exhausts RR 08 | Like you i also have an 07 Repsol and have just bought an RR 8 last friday and drove down to Singapore and back to K L on the saturday and think that i need some after market can to make it louder as its very quiet, maybe the twin ehaust like the moto GP bikes where it comes up under the seat as well , but havn't looked into anything yet. 1st thing am going to do is get mine painted before worrying about can as the colours on sale in Asia not good.. |

| Re: Fireblade 08 - Aftermarket Exhaust I saw two 08 Fireblades at the recent Superbike track day at Phillip Island (Oct 9/10). One had a Jardine pipe, and it is a great disappointment, making less power than the original. The other had an Akrapovic carbon fibre slipon, which looked and sounded good, and apparently makes 4 HP more than the original. I'm not convinced.... What I did do though is disconnect the cable that controls the flap of the main exhaust - the one that usually only opens at 4000 rpm. Very easy to do (5 min max) and completely reversable. Now I have the louder growl at all points of the rev range. If you don't know where the actuator motor is, let me know and I'll post some pictures... |

| Re: Fireblade 08 - Aftermarket Exhaust Its all been explained way back, it looses a little power low down not worth doing but if you want to just take of the plastic cover under rear of bike, turn the wheel to release cable then put the wheel back to original position, you must put it back to stop a warning light coming on |

4 hp gain is believable for the akro, they usually make the most power, my yoshi slipon made 3hp gain top end and fattened up the mid.... |

| Re: Fireblade 08 - Aftermarket Exhaust I don't think anything I've seen is worth the money yet. Your biggest gains will come from a metric calibrator (US box to get the missing UK power back) and a PC with a custom map. |

How much does it lose and where? If so, I might reconnect and see if I can notice any difference. |

| Re: Fireblade 08 - Aftermarket Exhaust Here's mine with the Akra race slip-on (basically the race version does not have the valve). It does come with a noise reduction insert but I've never had it in. The pipe sounds good, is light and pretty much gets rid of the flat spot. So there's no panel fill in but to be honest you only notice this if you look at the bike from waist height. |

I bought a Stock Muffler Off E Bay 95.00 w shipping
I open the back up and took out the plate over the main baffle
Took it to my welder buddy
Bike sounds Awsum.
With the cable off top plate stays open, however servo motor has to be set as per manual or you will be in limp mode.
