| Re: Fireblade 08 - Aftermarket Exhaust Hi All
Does anyone have any experience with noise reduction?
I'm going to upgrade my pipe soon, probably to the Yoshi (as the Akra doesnt have a fill-in). I have a choice to go slip on or full system. I'd prefer the full system but dont want the trouble of changing the pipe every year when i have to go for a vehicle inspection. Do the noise reducers (on the slip on and the full system) reduce the noise enough for it to pass the inspection noise limit? Or am i going to have to go street legal????
I figure that if i put a slip on on, its muuuuuuuuch easier to switch the pipe back when i need to.
Thanks for your help |

The Evo Akra I'm getting comes with removable baffles - is that what you mean? |

However, there is a visual difference between the slip-on and the full R-77 systems. The full system doesn't have the funky "S" pipe between the header and muffler, it just has a straight section fixed to the header, and the muffler attaches to that. |

| Re: Fireblade 08 - Aftermarket Exhaust I know getting a full R-77 Yosh system isn't street legal... but has anyone had problems with the law? I'm looking at getting the full system but I don't want to have problems with cops. The cops in my area seem to be pretty cool... although I've never been pulled over so I guess I can't say lol. |

| Re: Fireblade 08 - Aftermarket Exhaust I know here in Chicago sometimes they will enforce a law if you have aftermarket. It's more so when the bikes start hanging out and being obnoxious.
Total BS but what are you going to do.

| Re: Fireblade 08 - Aftermarket Exhaust The guy that owned my GSX-R 600K3 before me cut open the stock exhaust and took all the baffles out... you want to talk about loud. I ended up putting a Yoshi pipe on it and it actually made it a lot more quiet even though the new exhaust wasn't street legal. Not sure how my new CBR will sound with an exhaust... it can't be any louder than the Harley my step dad owns... and I don't plan on tearing up and down residential streets. I guess in my experience, most good aftermarket exhausts sound good without being incredibly loud.... it's the guys with hack job mufflers on their bikes that get the rest of us in trouble |

| Re: Fireblade 08 - Aftermarket Exhaust The Leo Vince Gp style is probably the ugliest can (looks like a elephant trunk) but man does it sound great. I low deep rumble that like a ferrari and not too loud.
The KR tuned is a nice system (full that is). kind of pricey but i love it. Not a screamer looks great.
The Vance and Hines i am dying to hear, imo it is F*cking the sweetest looking. I love the shape and color with the whole design. I also have a vance and hines system on my vtx1300, propbly the best setup for the bike very clean. they haven't made sportsbike cans before and im not sure if there out yet but if it sounds great i would switch to that. |

| Re: Fireblade 08 - Aftermarket Exhaust in the UK we have an MOT once a year, they check if the bike is in a roadworthy condition and measure the CO2 emmissions and sound level from the exhuast, and there is a strict limit! |

| Re: Fireblade 08 - Aftermarket Exhaust Why go with a Yoshi slip on or Akra slip on with that s bend? especially when either of their full systems do away with that same s bend? if you look at a stock header compared to an akra or yoshi header they look almost identical except for a slight increase in diameter in the aftermarket headers... someone told me the s bends in slip-ons were there for increase in back pressure to make bike perform properly. can't see how that works since aftermarket headers are same route and larger diameter... thus further decreasing back pressure....
Anyway for what it's worth I purchased the Jardine slip on from ebay for $425 it sounds awesome, and had a noticeable power increase. I also added a BMC filter, PCIII, and Z bomb. it's like a new bike!!! |

I am no physics major but that doesn't make sense..... |

here is the response I got when inquiring about it though. Quote: | the full system does not have the same bends. back pressure is key on a good system. the slip needs to have tge extra bends in it to create the correct back pressure. the full system is able to make that happen in the header area so the "snaking" is not needed in the mid pipe area like the slip. | |

| I still don't think I'm a believer... maybe it's more of a pitch to get you to buy the full system and pay $1100 for a new header!!! |

| Re: Fireblade 08 - Aftermarket Exhaust I would have thought that also, but that rest of the response I got was that the stock headers on the 08 are very good and you are only going to save a couple of lb's by replacing them. He suggested I get the slip on. I still want the full system though! |

wow see now we are getting somewhere... that was my point... stock header is nearly identical to aftermarket say like the Akra header... only diff is u may lose a few lbs. and for $1600 my money would be better spent elsewhere.... maybe a granite countertop in my bathroom... lol
maybe we should let lanbrown captain of the no help mod squad weigh in on this since he hates Jardine and so emphatically loves Leo Vince or Akrapoop or Arrow or Taylormade or whatever the heck he uses. I'm sure he'll tell us that the aftermarket larger diameter header will create more back pressure than the smaller stock header because thats what he was told and he never got a good math class back in Missouri Tx or where ever he's from. |

I just don't know about the logo!!!! hahahah |
