| Re: 08 fireblade owners please read have the same......subtle and more than one "discolouration" spot so have all the new ones I have seen locally. Will try and take some pics of mine tomorrow then we can compare notes. I am incline to say it's normal though.
Considered having mine jet coated of just sprayed black
Even on this promo pics it can bee seen, look for the whitish spots

In my opinion its the worst finished part of the bike, that particular part looks terrible. I am going to look into getting a proper job done to it. Design flaw...no just a poorly finished part to the bike.....you can almost see through the paint its so thin!!!!!! |

Is it just a heat shield ?
If so maybe an aftermarket carbon cover may come out. |

Doubt if a stickon (even if it's heat resistant) will work......a solid carbon shield maybe.

| Re: 08 fireblade owners please read I wanna get rid of the exhaust, but why do great companies like akrapovic not make a nice finishing? With all the AM exhausts I have seen, only Jardine tried to make a nicer finishing, not leaving a hole in the bike...
I dont like the sound of the OEM under 4k RPM...
What to do?!? Wait and see? |

If it does and is uniform, I aint gonna worry. |

| Re: 08 fireblade owners please read Well my baby has gone to its bike doctor with only 377 miles on the clock.I went for a little blat and suddenly i noticed a strange misfire, felt like it was only firing on 3 or like a fueling problem. When the doctor pluged his box of tricks in it showed that the cam position sensor has pack in which is a 5 hr job so i'm told and today is the best day of the year weather wise.I'm not a happy bunny.Apparently Honda are aware of this problem on other bikes so be advised. |

| Re: 08 fireblade owners please read Im not rocket scientist but what you might be experience is a defect in the metal in that area where it is corroding. Is the metal stainless steal? I would assume so, it it might be a sodium or calcium build up on the exhaust do to weather and the elements. If the outer shell is made of AL and was not coated properly during manufacturing then it will corrode. I cant tell what it is. The norm is SS just bc it can take the heat. My suggestions is that you call Honda and see if anyone else has this problem. it could be a recall on the metal they used or a contamination. |

| Re: 08 fireblade owners please read like i have said recently i would imagine tha honda no about it as its in every promo magazine shoot that the blade has appeared in my honda dealer has just said to keep an eye on it.
i'm off to germany on mine soon i would imagine that would give good example if it a fault or not as its one hell of a trip! |

| Re: 08 fireblade owners please read Just had the area Honda rep. look at my bike Thursday for paint issues and looked at the exhaust..They claim it is normal.
The first 600 miles on the new bike exhaust looked fine, then I did about 900 miles one weekend on my favorite back roads running it to red line in 2nd and 3rd and that is when I started getting the whitening on the exhaust.
I will be changing out the exhaust soon, so it won't matter anyway.
All I can say is I love this bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even with the minor flaws.
I will deal with the whitening of the exhaust and the crappy paint |

| Re: 08 fireblade owners please read My standard exhaust is now looking realy bad so i trotted down to my local Honda dealer to find out what excactly Honda are doing about posible recalling and fixing this fault and belive it or not they are doing nothing about it.Now,that is NOT the right answer and i will be e-mailing The CEO of Honda UK to protest in the strongest fashion.
I know that some of you have reverted to puting an after market can on (which Honda dont recommend) but they painted it black to carry on with the colour and theme of the lower fairing and if Honda realy belive that the black colour is not that important then why did they not originaly paint it white?
IMO it has ruined the look of my Blade and dont expect to have build quality issues with a company who pride themselves in this.
Or is this just my opinion?

| Re: 08 fireblade owners please read I took the folllowing picture from one of the online bike magazine-website. It also shows the white patch. Mine has only 50 miles. But black color is turning grey.
One of my friend, who has 1200 miles on his 08, is planning to cover up the black area of the exhaust with brushed aluminum. He got the idea from the new CB1000.
