Re: 00 929 Sugg. on frame sliders

The vortex sliders were suggested to me by guys on a racing forum. I've dropped my bike twice at 0mph and have only a few scratchs and a pea sized paint loss spot. Much better than without. I was hoping for 0 damage, but I guess they are called frame sliders not plastic savers.

Intuitive. Crash tested...worth the money.

Re: 00 929 Sugg. on frame sliders

I just installed the Vortex sliders on my 07 blade. These require modification to the fairings. Much stronger than the no-cut sliders that make use of an offset plate. Here is a pic of my install. Just take your time when you are grinding the fairing.

He has a 929rr. The 929rr requires no cutting at all. There is a hole right where it goes.

That would have been nice . Took lots of nerve to take a Dremel tool to my fairings

My vote is for LSL frame sliders. These are the best money can buy.

Re: 00 929 Sugg. on frame sliders

I crashed my 954 with Vortex sliders on it. I was pleased with how they worked. You can replace the pucks, which is nice. I don't have any experience with the Intuitive ones. Just make sure it's made of the right kind of plastic. The guy I bought the 954 off of had his friend make him some, which turned out to be brittle plastic. Snapped right off when I went down. That's when I got the Vortex.

Re: 00 929 Sugg. on frame sliders

I have the Intuitives on mine.....

Just crashed my '00 929 a week ago on some gravel on top of pavement in a parking lot, while braking to make a turn. Like 5-10 pieces of gravel right when I hit the brake lever. Bars locked and it high sided me at about 10mph.

Frame sliders worked great..the left side mid faring never got touched. BUT...mirror broke at base, upper fairing brace bent, broke windrscreen, damaged front cowl, both turn signals toast, clutch lever gone, bar end, top of left side turn signal switch housing on bar, shifter bent, footpeg gone, pillion peg scraped, tailpiece ruined, scratch on tank, and the MOTHER of all bitches, it made a 2 inch hole in the stator cover and drained the oil out of the bike.

I hit the pavement and was up in 1 second to pick up the bike, which to my horror was UTTERLY destroyed. 21 years of safe riding down the tube.

I can't fathom the amount of damage from this, the bike must have passed 90 degrees horizontal for a second then landed on it's side. I've seen far worse from crashes on other guys bikes at track days. I'm ballparking this is about $1200-$1400 damage, at least it didnt't get my shiny new C5 Titanium on the other side.

I'll be posting a different thread later to beg for people to sell me OEM parts to repair it.

But still, get the frame sliders.

Re: 00 929 Sugg. on frame sliders

Oh, and the Intuitives are the heavy duty Nylon type, not cheap plastic. The frame slider had about 3/16 ground down on half of it's diameter, other wise it's still as solidly mounted as a rock.

Re: 00 929 Sugg. on frame sliders

Any slider of a nylon type will suffice. The Intuitives and Vortex are nice. Just avoid any billet type since the impact can damage the frame or break it at the motor mounts.
