| running hott hey everyone. my bike seems to be running warmer than usual lately. i was just wondering if it could be the weight of the oil. the tech at my local dealership told me to buy 20W50. it seemed heavy to me. that is the only difference from last year and all i think would be. Any thoughts??? |

| Re: running hott that seems hot, i think the fan should turn on at around 185. is the fan comming on? 230 is hot i would not run it like that. my bike is a 954 though, it may be different than your bike. the 954's are known to crack heads due to excessive heat. the problem may be the oil type used and or the oil level when the bike is warm. there are alot of reasons for heat but because you say the only difference is the oil i would check the level and the recomendations for type and weight in your owners manual. do not go by what someone says over what is stated in the manufactuers manual. use only what is recomended and stick with that brand and weight. |

| Re: running hott ya your right, i couldnt remember. 185 is where my bike normally runs at. i looked at the shop manual and 218 it the temp the fan turns on. 230 is still hot in my opinion. |

| Re: running hott The dealer cannot reflah the ECU.
To the OP, don't come to Texas if you think 230 is hot. |

| Re: running hott im just trying to enjoy the bike for many years to come not spin her up and watch the head crack. i dont even drive it on city streets if its over 100*F that bike cant sit in traffic like my old interceptor 500 that thing couldnt over heat if you took out 1/2 of the coolant (not really just runs really cold) dont get me wrong ive had my friends 06' 600rr with the muzzy motor in it up and over 240* |
