929 suspension

Is there anyone who has experience with other front fork oil (15W in stead of the original 10W)?

I ride the bike especially on the track. Suspension with 10W is quite good, I would say it has a good balance. But maybe just a little bit soft when braking very hard.

Re: 929 suspension

Hi hornet911,

I'm pretty sure the standard fork oil is a 7.5wt.

I'm running a 10wt Motul in my 954 and have found it to be fine. I replaced the springs with 0.95 units but didn't want to spend any money on damping upgrades etc so figured the slightly heavier oil would work better with the springs...

The only real consideration with regard to using a slightly heavier oil is to do with heat - most oils will thin out when they get hot, so a slightly thicker oil has the potential for greater variance in viscosity as it gets hot, and therefore is likely to have a greater effect upon the performance of your suspension's damping - how much I don't know, but I can say that I haven't noticed any drop-off in mine with the 10wt oil after some pretty heavy track sessions on bumpy tracks.

Cheers, Spanky.

Re: 929 suspension

OK, thanks. Finally I used a medium type of oil (7,5/10) witch I will try out quite soon...
