What MPG and Range Should One Expect from a 2005 CBR 1000 RR?

I am starting to ride the Fireblade more and was wondering if any one had any info on MPG and range (how far can you go on a tank?). When the fuel light comes on, how much is lift?

Thanks,

Depends on how you ride and if its city or highway.. I would say the light should probally come on around 90-110 miles in the city, and with about 25-30 miles left after the light comes on.. I think the avg mpg is 30-35mpg..

Then I would say you have about 25-30 more miles after that.. That would mean you only got about 24mpg... Its a 4.8 gallon tank with the light coming on it 1.06 remaining.. In the city I get about 100-110 until the light comes on the about 30 miles after that.. When I took the 07 and 08 down to the Mountains I was get about 150 until the light came on, and about 30-40 miles after that..

*Fuel Capacity 4.8 gallons, including 1.06-gallon reserve 2006/2007 model

Yikes, 95? I get at least 115 or so when riding hard and over 135 when taking it easy.

Yeah my buddy has an R1 and they said it would go about 40 miles after the light. Wrong! 19 miles later he was on the side of the freeway empty. I fill as soon as I can after the light comes on. Just like in a car never run below a 1/4 tank and you'll always be safe.

Yep, I'm going to be doubly observant and make sure I reset the speedometer. I ride my VFR 5 Days a week for the work community and do some hills on the weekends for fun on the CBR.

I just installed some frame sliders on it, so I'm sure I'll be motivated to ride bit this weekend.

Is there a reserve petcock on the 2005 Fireblades? I haven't noticed one.

I've had my '06 1000RR (1200 miles on it now)for a little over 2 weeks now and I've been watching every tank. My first tank was 37mpg 126mi, then I took it real easy except for one race on the freeway lol and got 138mi before the light came on. Now I'm getting more and more comfortable on it, and I got 34mpg and 36mpg last two tanks. I'm not riding easy, but not racing everywhere either.

By riding 630 mi over the last two weeks instead of my truck (16mpg) I've saved $80 in gas.

I'm averaging 130-145 to the reserve in my 06. Into the 150-160 range on the interstate. I've heard that the older 1kRR have smaller tanks then the 06-07 model. I know mine is 4.8 gal total, 3.2 to the reserve.

There's just a warning light on the dash.

Nope, and good riddens to those things. One of my favorite things lost in history with the FI bikes. Is that old petcock that could flood your oil if left on, or discolor the frame when it leaked, and leave you on the side of the road when it decided to go bad and have to figure out to bypassl

Re: What MPG and Range Should One Expect from a 2005 CBR 1000 RR?

I'm getting about 50 mpg average, dropping to about 45 mpg on group rides. I don't push it very hard though, RPM's around 5-6k range most times. It seemed like I got better mileage when I stopped using 89 or 92 octane and switched to 87.

I run mine with 1 gallon of C12 in it. I love the smell. My light goes on after about 130 miles around town here in Florida and about 145 on the highway.

I've seen a best of 150 and the light hadn't come on yet on my 04. That was on a spirited ride, not a fast one.

I have a 06 and ride about 110mi round trip to work almost every day. I usually see about 130 to a tank with a set of sport bags on. If i take the bags off i can get 145-150 but I ride a total of 10mi on the street and the rest is highway.
