900rr Fireblade

The 900rr Fireblade is where it all began, we have a lot of 900rr riders here on the fireblades so if you have something to say about your 900rr, photos to share, mods you have made or you just want to tell us how great it is or was then fire away.

"It was the year 1989 and engineer's name was Tadao Baba. His idea was to produce motorcycle with power of 1000cc engine but with controllability of 750cc. The FireBlade was born."

Compare the original vision with the current model fireblade, lighter, smaller, faster, better?

Re: 900rr Fireblade

The first 900RR was released in 1992. That RR weighed 454lbs wet and was 122bph for the 893cc's and 128bph for the 918cc... Which means that all the newer ones except the 04/05 where lighter and had more power...

Re: 900rr Fireblade

I've got a '93 Blade in Black/Silver/Red and I love it so far (only had it about 6 months). My brother has the exact same bike in Red/White/Blue. We get some looks when we go to the local bike night, where everyone rides a 3 year old or newer bike. Both bikes are pretty much stock, with the exception of aftermarket pipes. My goal is to get my bike all the way back to stock...just thought it would be cool since I don't see many stock original Blades around here.

Anyway, does anyone know where I can get a full size version of these pictures or similar pictures? I thought it would make a cool picture for my desktop.

Re: 900rr Fireblade

i have 2 cbr 900rr's 1's mint the other is being fixed/rebuilt both are red, white & blue. i just took the mint on on a 4 day trip from ma. up through nh. white mountains to bar harbor maine back to upper nh. down to ma. only about a 1000 miles but it was the first real trip since i bought the bike last aug. i found the bike quite comfortable, and had a blast riding it. i get many compliments on how clean it is. every time i go to the dealer they try to buy it from me, they offered me $5000 cash for it on several occasions. they told me if i trade it in for a new cbr 1000 they could even give me more. i have been waiting to own this bike for 15 years and i finally got it. i'm not going to let it go either, i absolutley love this bike it is truely nastalgic to look at and to ride, yep, heres where it all started.

Not sure what year but I saw a picture somewhere of a 900RR in purple/yellow that seems like it would compliment my 96' Smokin' Joe quite nicely. Anyone know the year or have one or pics of one?

Re: 900rr Fireblade

Hey Everyone
I have a 96 900 RR.. Had it for just over a year now.. Got it pretty much bone stock, with a D&D Carbon pipe on it. So far I've made the following improvements to it.. some cosmetic, some performance
- Harris Billet Rear Sets
- Toby Steering Damper
- Repacked the D&D pipe
- True Carbon Tank Pad
- True Carbon Triple Tree Cover
- Custom Windscreen that I cut out of an odd double bubble screen from Hong Kong that I ordered.
- Spiked Bar Ends
- Moto GP Rim Stripes
- Stebel Nautilus 145 Db Air Horn (it scares the crap outta people hahaha)
- 2 Piece frame sliders
- Tear Drop Mirros
- Harris Grips.

Whats coming
- Sime inspired 03 Gixxer 1000 tail unit (kicked up a notch or 2)
- Alarm System Addition
- Custom Fabricted Tail Gunner Tail Light Unit
- Custom Fabricated Heel Guards
- 02 CB919 Transmission (to replace my trans thats jumping out of 2nd)
- Digital Gauges, with LCD Screen.
- Shaved Turn Signals
- lots of powder coated parts
- Rear View Cam Setup
- pipe is getting taken off and the carbon recleared and shortened by a bit..
- Rear Hugger
- Great evil looking paint scheme (matte black with gloss black accents)
- and more..
I have a few months off, and I've got a few things stockpiled that Im going to be putting on the bike.
Here is a recent pic I took the other day

Check mine out. My title says 1994 but google search for 1995 came up with more results for this color scheme.

Re: 900rr Fireblade

Looks like a bulldog, never going to win a beauty contest, stupid 16'' front wheel, sublimely torquey power delivery, absolutley reliable becuase it hasn't been pushed to outrageous BHP output, surprisingly comfortable because the fairings are designed fior road not track, not heavy, but solid, for riding on roads... Build quality that puts all others to shame, such a simple design, no electronic trickery to go wrong. WHY do you need anything else? Only the lunatics that like crashing on track days want anything more... oh and the posers who cant actually ride anything bigger than a 250. Why did Honda make the 900 Hornet so ugly, that was almost a viable alternative.

Zeek, I advise you to post more / become a supporting member before you slag others off.

This is not a thread for solving problems. That is elsewhere on the site. Use the search button to help with your woes.

I doubt JD was slagging you off, it was more a generic statements of Original Fireblades like the thread is there for!

-------------------------------------
Check out my profile for pics of my Original 92 'Blade

Love her to bits! Great fun and (Sorry JD) I think they are stunning!
16" front wheel with the rolling radius of a 17"er (higher profile tyres) showed he was at least thinking of going even further away from the norm at the time!

Re: 900rr Fireblade

Blimey! Arn't some people touchy! I dont slag, but I might have the occasional dig. I appreciate that Honda have to chase sales or they go out of business. I just wish that sportsbikes had not become so track focused that they miss the point on the road. But I also admit I am as guilty as anyone of lusting after the new kick. Surprising then that I found no reason at all to trade my old RRX, it did everything better than I could do.
It is only a piece of machinery, after all, but that bike transended a mere collection of mechanical parts. I am pleased to say that the new owner is giving her the appreciation she deserves so I can rest happy now.
