Oil Confusion, how to read the dipstick correctly?

Guys,
I am soo confused and scared about the oil level in a lot of our 08 Bikes.
Checked it again today after having done +500k, after the oil change (3500km). How do I read the dipstick correctly?
Lost my user manual. On which mark should the oil level be for the correct oil level?
Can anyone post a pic for me retard to illustrate it?

Thanks

have it in straight position and do not screw the dipstick in, as you mentioned.
My oil level is rite above the MFL level, is that sufficient?

I did that and ended up slightly overfilling ... despite being anal about following the manual process.

It was drained at the dealers and found to be slightly over.

Once the dealer had set my oil level (for checking consumption over 500 miles) I checked the oil with the bike totally cold and the max level was showing on the line on the bottom side of the dipstick as opposed to the line on the top side where the oil was very slightly under the line.

Here on in manual out the window and I measure it cold.

What a fanny on
