Gasket or sparkplug drain holes leaking?

Alright so last week I was concerned with the spark plug holes leaking oil.... The deal is that I noticed burnt on oil or fuel where the spark plug drains are. My question is where is the spark plug drain draining from? From where the chamber drops down and the actual plug screws into the head? Or from internal? Internal doesn't make any sense to me cause I would think compression would leak . Im new to bike motors but not automotive. Anyways a few months ago the bike's MAP was disconnected and the bike ran extremely rich and fowled the plugs. Could the stains be fuel from when the bike was running rich? Why would these plug drains have oil stains? Headgasket? I will note that the stains are only where the plug drains are, nowhere else. Anyone have these oil stains? They only come down about 1 inch from the plug drains. If it were a headgasket issue why would all four of them leak? Also wouldnt I have a coolant overheating issue if it were a headgasket? The exhaust smoke has zero coolant in it, I can tell. Ive only had the bike a few months so Im not sure how old these stains are but there pretty caked on, doesnt seem to be susbstaintial leak. I havnt noticed any performance loss although Im new to the 929 it could lose 50 horse and Id still say it screamed.

Headsasket issue or stains from rich running engine? Or as in the past am I just being paranoid again?

Re: Gasket or sparkplug drain holes leaking?

It's just a hole drilled through into the base next to the sparkplug. It's not internal at all.
The staining is most likely simply due to rainwater and other debris that's splashed up onto the engine. It's also not uncommon to spill a litle oil when checking valve clearances.
Unless it's actually running out I'd ignore it.

my guess would be to stop water collecting around the base of the plugs. if water collected there, the plugs would stop sparking at the tip and arch across the water at the base of the plug (i had this problem on one of my cars)

Re: Gasket or sparkplug drain holes leaking?

Yep :-)
Without them any water or oil splashed onto the engine would fill the spark plug holes up and the entire coil would be immersed.
