CBR900 RR Oil Change

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this. I am trying to change the oil on my bike and would like to ask a few questions.

1) I am not able to find where the oil drain bolt is, there are two spots that look like they might be the bolts however one has a really weird bolt that has a hole inside of it and I couldn't get a socket to fit on it and the other which is at the very bottom of the oil pan has a big hose going under it and I can not get to the bolt because of it. If anyone can post a picture for a 95 900RR it would be great I saw many videos on other bikes but I can not find it on mine.

2)What type of oil should I use, I was going for the 10W40, however someone told me that I need to use a different one. Do I need to use a different one?

Thank you,

Re: CBR900 RR Oil Change

OEM motorcycle and ATV parts from Honda, Yamaha & Polaris – Cycle Parts Warehouse

check out part number 16 in the far right hand corner.. thats your drain plug..good luck, and yes 10w40 is fine as long as its motorcycle oil or approved for wet clutches

1 more thing, part number 17 above it is your crush ring(gasket) if it is getting worn you need to replace it as it will leak..

Re: CBR900 RR Oil Change

Thank for the reply.. I changed the oil and it was a breeze. To take the oil filter I didn't need a strap wrench.. I just took off the right side fairing and you got at the filter easily.

Re: CBR900 RR Oil Change

i would say 3.3- 3.5 oil and filter change..start with 3.25 start and let idle to warm up, turn it off and check/add as needed. do not overfill, best level to keep it at is BETWEEN the max and min so it will allow room to expand
