01 929RR tires, Which ones?

I have not been here in a while. I need some info on tires, and which some of the members like best and why? Now I have the Michelin on. I also heard about Dunlops, Bridgestone beening quiet good too. I do not do any track days. I just hit the back roads in Michigan and back and forth to work. I put 6K on the stock tires. Campairing these which ones will get the most mileage and what brand will be more for my need? I don't have any opinions on any other tires due to this being my first bike.

One more question, since I am changing tires, Is it worth while to do the sprocket change? I hear if I go up/down in back/front (not sure which one) that this mod is really awsome. For those that have done this would you do it again. Remember this is just for back road running with brother and friends. Hope to get some good info.

Personal Experience. I like the Bridgestone BT010's. They are a different profile than the Michelin so the bike will seem to corner much quicker, it's odd a first, but once you get used to it, it's a great tire. I got about 5k miles out of my last set before I took the bike off the street. That was all back and forth to work and canyons on the weekends.

As far as the sproket, it's easier to change the front sproket. Drop it a tooth to 15 and leave the rear stock. You'll notice a big difference down low and it's a one bolt job as opposed to 5-6 on the rear.

I had Michelins on the 929. My RC has Dunlaps, but I won't be trying them out for a few months.

One of the first things I'll be doing is replacing the Dunlaps for Michelins.

I've run a set on Dunlop 208GP's and while they took a little getting used to I really liked them in the end. They make great road tyres as well.

I'm running Rennesports at the moment and dont think much of them. Less grip than the 208GP's and the front moves around a lot while cranked right over.

I've been more than happy with my Pilot Sports. I believe I'm on my fourth set. This last set I moved down to a 180 rear. On the street they felt just great, but once I hit the track I was unhappy. It could have been the track temp, or the track surface. But the rear tire just didn't feel as stable when leaned all the way over as the stock 190. I'll be going back to the 190 on this next set.
I love the Pilot Sports. I think they give great all around performance. Good all around grip on the street and depending on how and on which track you ride, they are work at the track well too. I seem to be getting them a bit warm on The Streets of Willow Springs during warm days, but on The Big track they work great.
Just my opinion.

Another option is the Bridgestone BT020's..its a sport TOURING tire...it has the sport characteristics but a touring middle..so it can last good and long. Might be the ticket since you dont do any track days and its a commuter. Some peeps around here get the 020 in the rear and the 010 in the front...I think and they like that as well.

I had BT010s on my 929 and got real good mileage out of them. Good grip as well. Had Pilots on it when it was stolen and really liked the way they fell into the corners. The bike felt like it steered faster probably due to the steeper crown on the Pilots. Pilots wont last as long though, 3000 as compared to 5000 miles for the 010s.
I currently have the Bstone 012s on my 954 and like them better than either of the above. Real nice grip but wearing fast. A few less wheelies probably would extend the life but thats no fun.
