| New member to the ranks!! So after much agonizing and wringing of the hands Ive decided (by me I mean the wife) to go tomorrow and get an 02 954.
11k miles, full Muzzy exhaust, Pro Tek rear sets, steering damper (cant tell what brand in pic), newer tires, New chain and sprokets, and the paint even looks halfway decent from the pics.
From what Ive read here over the last couple days the current K & N filter will be replaced very soon with a stock Honda filter. Ill be doing an oil change, and maybe flush the radiator out this weekend. And doing alot of adjustment to a new ,larger than Im used to, bike.
All that being said, are there any tips to owning, riding, and maintaining a 954 that arent on the last 10 pages or so? I noticed the Fuel pressure regulator has a habit of taking a crap. usually noticed by white smoke, and gas in a vacuum line under the tank. and something about CCT (Cam chain tensioner?)
Thanks ahead of time for any advice given, it is much appreciated. and if there are any tampa area riders around Id love to meet for a leisurely sunday ride after Ive put some miles on this thing!
Ill be posting pics soon as I have them!!! |

| Re: New member to the ranks!! Enough to know its a big step from a 250 to a 954. but stupid enough to do it anyway lol.
I have every respect for the machine and no intentions of ever being stupid and opening it up beyond my ability.
Ive got a wife and 2 young kids that keep my wrist in check every time I ride my 250 that I bought new from the dealer and put 20k miles on. (not that its anything close to the 954) |
