Bypassing the ignition switch

Ok, so I've been seeing those post on the forum from people looking to bypass their ignition switch. They all claim it's for race/track-bike purposes. But I don't get it...

What is the advantage of it?? I mean, I have a key on my track-bike and it just make me that safer to leave the bike alone in the pits.

I don't want to say those guys are all thief, but I would like to see an advantage to it.

There is no real advantage, the only reason I did it is cause my key tip broke off in the ignition.
