Fuel System Cleaners/Additives - worth using?

My bike was stored away over Winter, 5 months unused, but now back on the road. The bike was started monthly whilst stored in the garden.

The other day I went out for a ride, and at higher speeds and higher revs I noticed a slight lack in performance. I.e as you give throttle whilst the revs are high - there was a slight lack and mild jerky feeling.

I'm guessing at the moment it's a carb/petrol issue. The bike probably needs a good clear out. I didn't want to strip the carbs and clean them, but is there anything I can maybe supplement the fuel with to help clean it out? Like a petrol additive?

Is it worth it - and if so, are there any recommendations or will anything do, i.e Redline fuel system cleaner.

Many thanks,

Many thanks,

I'm not a fan of putting any additives through an engine on top of all those already in the fuels and oils we use.
You can certainly try it but if the carbs need cleaning there's only one way to clean them properly :-)

I run two tanks per year with Lucas oil injector cleaner. Once in the spring first tank, and one mid summer.
