02' 954RR New Owner Questions about the temperature levels

So I just bought an 02' 954 and I drove it home and the temp gauge was at approximately 52celcius. I'm curios as to what is a max temp i should see.
Thanks

It should run around 85-95C under normal riding conditions.
When stopped in hot weather, the fan will come on at about 102C.
Anything over about 106C is worth investigating.
Highest I've ever seen is 121C and it spat out the coolant as soon as I shut it down. Didn't cause any problems though.

Hey thanks for the reply. Is there a good upgrade for the bike that would keep it cooler?

These bikes get really hot at a stop, but once the fans kick on and you start rolling its all good. As long as it doesnt cut off when it gets too hot then your OK.

If you only saw 52c, I would be looking at why it's not getting up to operating temp.
Even on a short ride and a cold day it should be around 80c.
Engines definately don't like running to cold.

If what is one of those things?
85-95C is the normal operating temperature for a water-cooled petrol engine.

absolutely, even the frosty mornings atm (16 deg C outside temp) my 954 was 97 deg C after a red light.

Totally normal.

Don't ride your bike hard @ 50's, thats bad... proper operating temp is also where the lubrication is designed for aka less engine wear and tear.

I just read somewhere where someone talked about it getting real hot and I didnt know if that was a major concern for these bikes. I havent owned the bike very long yet and am just curious about it.
