Note about Asphalt Interceptor Decals

On the 2004 Asphalt Interceptor, do not attempt to remove the Honda Wing decals on the tank.

I removed the "Honda" from the top of the tail. No problem. Not even a little residue left behind.

I removed the "Interceptor" from each side of the rear cowl. No problem. Again, clean as a whistle.

Then the only decals left on the bike were the Honda Wings on the tank. I waffled back and forth on removing them too, or leaving them alone.

I decided to make it a clean sweep.

They were a bit more difficult to remove, (with good reason, I found.), but I was able to lift up the edge with a razor blade and peeled them off with no problem. (other than the decal residue that was left behind; or so I thought.) So, I started trying to get that off with Honda Cleaner and elbow grease, but it wouldn't budge. Not even a ripple.

Turns out that the tank is a gloss version of the asphalt color under the labels.

So now I have two perfectly shaped glossy Honda Wings on my tank. (Until my replacement order of decals arrives this week from Ron Ayers.)

I'm surprised they didn't all have gloss underneath them. Decals don't ususally adhere well to a flat finish.

Re: Note about Asphalt Interceptor Decals

Well, it's a smooth surface all over the bike. It's hard to explain if you haven't touched one. It doesn't feel like you think a flat color would feel.

You may be dropping your trade in value by removing the stickers.

Now let's see some pics......

So you're saying you'll be too busy to take pics of the bike?

Holy snikey! I was recently staring it the decals on mine and contemplating doing the same thing. Needless to say, I'll PASS! Hey, I'm all about learning from the misfortune of others. Thank God thoe friggin' warning labels weren't glossy underneath!
