| Thinkin about buying an Interceptor I have to get rid of the Roadstar Warrior that I traded in the 954 for. Did Honda get the problem with the charging system fixed? Other than that I havent heard of any problems with VFRs. How is the power compared to the 929/954s? I know they are down on power but thats not what Im looking for anymore. I want something with some pep but still fun to ride. All responses welcome and thanks in advance. |

| Re: Thinkin about buying an Interceptor You'll notice the loss in power, but it's not a deal breaker. It has plenty of power for the street. |

| Re: Thinkin about buying an Interceptor I originally looked at an Interceptor and think they are great bikes (bought a CBR1000RR)
However the deciding factors on not going VFR were linked brakes (just could not convince myself that this is a bike feature) and I jumped on a CBR600F4i. The F4i was noticeably lighter and maybe faster than the VFR however it had the can rather than underseat exhaust. All in all 3 very nice bikes and I am happy with my choice. Although I think any of the 3 would have been a great bike.

| Re: Thinkin about buying an Interceptor The only complaint I have regarding the VFR is that I can't stand getting off of it! This is my first V4 and it took a little adjusting to get used to the different power band. The deal clincher, for me, was the ergos. No other sportbike (yes I consider it a sportbike) accomodated my legs like this one. The CBR954 came close but my knees fall right into the veefer's tank indentions. I understand the R/R problem was corrected with the sixth gen models. |

We even replaced front brakes on the track bikes with a spool. And now I am over biased to the front, so I guess I just think in terms of 2 systems

| Re: Thinkin about buying an Interceptor This is also my first LBS bike and I can't tell any difference. Only a small portion of the opposite brake is applied by the system. I did, however opt for the non-ABS model. (saved a grand) |

| Re: Thinkin about buying an Interceptor You'll not be very amused when it comes time to adjust the valves with that VTEC system complicating matters. Much more time and $$$ involved in a valve adjustment. The good part is, Honda's valve trains hardly ever need actual adjustment. I've had high mileage CBRs & VFRs of many vintages and don't recall any of them needing adjustment. Never hurts to check them from time to time, though. The new VFR is a great bike, and better than the ones previous, but I miss the whine of gear-driven cams. |

| Re: Thinkin about buying an Interceptor I have the 800i. not VTEC. Great for sporting long distance riding, fine for commuting, not too bad on top end power (but I'm not used to 130+bhp) and I love the torque lower down, like the V-twins.
Heavy though, particularly on low speed manoevres and turn-in, but solid in corners and on the freeways immune from side winds. I just love the solidity of the VFR in high speed European autobahn or autoroute riding. Comfort is in a different league from true sports bikes IMHO. I'm happy with the linked braking too, non ABS. |

| Re: Thinkin about buying an Interceptor I'm 5 9 and 180lbs, best mate with Blackbird is about your size. We both fit fine on the VFR when riding solo and no probs on long rides. It's built to carry pillions (though I seldom do) so weight isn't going to be a problem. |

| Re: Thinkin about buying an Interceptor You'll be a lot more comfortable on the VFR. When I went from the 1000RR, I felt like I was sitting straight up. (And now when I switch back and forth between the 600RR and the VFR it's a big difference too.)
I'm 6', so it's close. (Only 165lbs or so though.)
The weight capacity on the VFR is 400lbs I think. |

| Re: Thinkin about buying an Interceptor A local buddy of mine has already had to have one of the CCT's replaced on his 2002 Viffer. It's up for sale.
Nice looking bikes but for the the LBS I had on my 2000 VFR got me into a REALLY bad habit of applying the rear break a lot. When I get back on a bike with normal brakes I just about tossed it after locking up the rear tire using my lazy LBS tuned right too.
YMMV. The VFR is a fine bike but I personally found it's weight would wear me out on long rides. |

| Re: Thinkin about buying an Interceptor I too am NO FAN of LBS. It's expensive to get rid of too...the only type of "LBS" I halfway like is ABS on the Beemer. That big pig will stop fa'ast. I guess they have to link it for ABS to work |
