| VFR questions Got a project in mind...Somebody here probaly can help me. I need to know a few things about teh VFR motors, what year did they go to EFI, what year they lost the gear drive cams, when did they go from 750 to 800, what are the major years of different production changes. Basicaly if I am looking for a motor for a custom project, that must be carbed, is there a particular year(s) that are better? Thanks. |

| Re: VFR questions fuel injection started in 1998, as well as the jump up to 800cc...
i didn't know that they moved away from gear driven cams, but my guess would be that if they did stop using it it was in 2002 when the latest generation with VTEC came out
before that another major change was between the 1993 and 1994 models
i'd say you'd be best to look at a 94-97 VFR750 |

| Re: VFR questions They went from 748cc to 781cc in 98 which was when they went to EFI.
Vtec (chain driven cams) appeared in 2002.
The 748 was a great engine and so was the 781 EFi but the jury is still out on the Vtec. Personally I'm not a fan. Those who have them seem to like them. |

| Re: VFR questions i used to ride a 2001 non stop... it was my dad's, i learned to ride on it... loved it to bits
then i tried an 02 at a demo and it wasn't very pleasing...
dad also has a 94, its a bit more sluggish but still good old fashioned "fast ass couch" fun |

| Re: VFR questions The 94-97 engines were pretty well bulletproof and I believe the 90-93 were too. My 96 VFR750 engine had 92000 klm when the bike was knocked out from under me. It was still running like a watch and using no oil between services. |

| Re: VFR questions ya my dad's 2001 had almost 40k on it when he sold it... never did any work to it, other than general maintenance, and it still ran like the day it rolled out of the showroom |

| Re: VFR questions G-Force, you might want to look here for more in depth info: http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~john/vfr/ or http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~john/vfr/specs/
Here's a quick break down on the more recent years:
1990 to 1993 carbed 748CC gear driven cams
1994 to 1997 carbed 748CC gear driven cams
1998 to 2001 F.I. 781CC gear driven cams
2002 to now F.I. V-Tec 781CC Chain
I'm partial to my 95 VFR, which also has a bigbore kit bringing it up to 837CC, and 90 to 109HP at the rear wheel.
Hope this helps,
Tim[whole VFR for sale! ]

| Re: VFR questions Can any of you guestemate how much narrower a 94/97 motor is compared to a modern inline 4? I know its not a V twin, but its somewhere in between? |

Missed this thread yesterday, but I'll echo what everyone else has said...you want a 94-97....
Then send it to DynamoHumm and have them set you up with an 840 kit....

| Re: VFR questions That would make a cool race car engine. My dad has a crashed '94 that he's thinking of parting out. Not a scratch on the engine. I think about 60000km's on it but runs like a top. He'd probably sell you the whole wreck for not too much. You building a race car? |

| Re: VFR questions Just phoned my old man, he says 2500CND for the whole thing. That's about 2 grand USD at today's exchange. The bike is still rideable except for the broken clutch lever I think. Slid on its side at about 60mph but didn't flip. Cosmetically a mess on the 1 side but totally salvageable and could be made into a decent rider if you wanted to. I don't have a pic but give pm me or email and I'll try to get something. It's red. |

Thanks

SSA...? | Stock VTX one is pretty darn small and enough capacity...assuming twin RC51's with fans dont fit where an oil tank would be... |

Gotta be a cool way to clean up the injector area....or are you fabbing a custom carb setup?
