| COTU Dates set for 2006 Keep an eye out on the vfrlist, Solace is narrowing down the dates for the COTU ( Center Of The Universe) rides in Marietta, Ohio near the WV border. I've had a great time at those events. Nothing like a 350 mile ride home in the rain through rolling twisties while you're seriously hung over.... no more moonshine for me, thanks.
Now that I've looted an electric vest, I'm hoping to go. Any idea how much an R/R is worth there?
Edit:
Date is set for May 12th-14th.
Come on, Red Rider, you can tell your wife it's a business trip.
Anyone interested should subscribe to the list:

| Re: COTU Dates are being considered over on the vfrlist Cool, it is a great time and a great area to ride. It regularly draws riders from NY and everything within a 300-400 mile radius. Even had a few people come in from Colorado one year and they were impressed with the area. Great way for us northern folk to start off the riding year in style. |

| Re: COTU Dates are being considered over on the vfrlist The thing that sucks is that usually there is still some "Traction Control" in the corners which caused a white-line-to-white-line two-wheeled slide back in 03 which made for quite a moment. Though it looks like this year, they are looking a bit later in the spring. This is a great ride, and a better group of folks to hang out with. I have some great memories from COTU and WDGAH both which I hope to attend in the future.

| Re: COTU Dates are being considered over on the vfrlist Here are the latest details: Quote:
COTU has been scheduled for the weekend of May 12/13/14. We originally were planning the ride for the following weekend but lodging availability in Marietta was an issue due to college graduations and some other events. We also needed to change motel locations since the Damon's restaurant that was part of the Comfort Inn has closed. Unfortunately, no other restaurant has taken the space.
The new "boot camp" location is the Hampton Inn on Pike Street, just down the road from the Comfort Inn. A block of rooms has been reserved under 'VFR Group'. Check out http://www.hamptoninn.com and select Marietta OH for more details. An Applebee's Restaurant is located within easy walking distance of the motel. Although the restaurant doesn't have a party room, they have agreed to set aside tables for us on Saturday. It should be a better arrangment than what we had last year. |

| Re: COTU Dates set for 2006 Man I've got to pay attention around here!! Again you guys are coming to my neck of the woods. PLEASE someone either email me or PM me as the time gets closer for this. I don't have a VFR ( yet ) but can easily arrange to get a bike for that weekend. There are absolutely TONS of good eating establishments in the area. There is one restaurant in Parkersburg that has a good sized room that if need be I think I could make a few phone calls and try to have reserved. Also, is the route planned out yet? Maybe I can get ahold of a few folks here to meet up also. |

| Re: COTU Dates set for 2006 I think most of the details are worked out. They always like to have food and a bar within walking distance if at all possible. Makes it easier for those that like to have a drink with dinner...
We rarely have a predetermined route, instead we break up into small groups of riders that can improvise as we go...
Get a bike purchased and we'll see you there...

| Re: COTU Dates set for 2006 ARGHHH!! Just looked at the dates again. I'll be Italy until the 13th. But I should be home that night ( 13th ) If people are still gonna go out on the 14th I might be able to make it there in time. It's tempting not to go overseas, but I can't pass up an all expense paid trip. |

We always break into smaller groups, and always have 4 or 5 routes mapped out so people can choose the one that meets their time, distance, and interest needs. The Routemeister does a good job of putting all of the local knowledge into maps for us.
Great event. |

| Re: COTU Dates set for 2006 Hey guys,
Just a quick note here that some may want to pass along to others going on the COTU ride next weekend:
Ohio State Patrol will be elevating patrol levels on SR 550 and SR 26, both outside of Marietta and a favorite for us motorcyclists. Not sure just where, but be careful.
On another note, if everyone is meeting at the Comfort Inn, I'll try to make it up Sunday on the SV. Just drop me a PM on where to meet you guys and what time.

| Re: COTU Dates set for 2006 Thanks for the heads up.
We'll be meeting at the Hampton Inn on the other side of the freeway this year. The restaurant in the Comfort Inn closed, so we moved to behind Applebees (best we could do without going into town ).
It would be great to meet you. |

| Re: COTU Dates set for 2006 Wish I could join you guys, but I've got commitments that prevent it. Find the local cop from Marietta to ride with again and you won't have to worry about the OSP!
Ride safe...

| Re: COTU Dates set for 2006 PM me also. I live in Marietta on St Rt. 676 so I am available anytime. I heard that same thing about to popo's being heavy that weekend. I got stopped last Sunday (70 in a 55 zone) by a trooper . He just admired the bike and sent me on my way with a warning. (that is pretty rare for Ohio Troopers) I'd like to meet up with a group of you for a ride also. I know some great roads 'cuz I ride 'um everyday! let me know. |

Any of the rest of you locals, regardless of the brand or model of the bike, just come to the hotel that Friday evening.. where the middle aged guys with the modded red bikes will be misbehaving in the parking lot.
I'l have the only blue bike there. Oh, and I'm shorter than most of the other guys.
Also, if a wraithlike, 6'4" - 140 lb figure in a faded red aerostich and a long ponytail offers you a drink out of a mason jar he keeps pulling out of the tank bag of his ST1100, DON'T DO IT!!!.
