| Re: The only time I don't like LBS... How is it different for bleeding the brakes on a car??? A car definatly has a linked brake system........with abs too. Are vrfs equiped with abs?
EDIT:
According to the title that means you like the system. I would think it would take away some of the intamicy with the road. Is there some sort of proportioning valve to the rear brakes to reduce pressure?
If not, I would think heavy trail-braking would induce rear lock up due to the shifting weight. I really don't know how it's different.

| Re: The only time I don't like LBS... I thought car breaks were somewhat seperate systems that only fed off the same brake fluid reservour.
How are linked breaks at the track? |

When you pulled the front brake the bike just seemed to squat down and stop. Some guys have gone through the hassle of delinking the system...

It's pretty elaborate. 2 front calipers each have 3 pistons. Rear caliper has 2 pistons. Front brake lever activates 4 of the 6 front pistons. Rear brake pedal activates 1 of the 2 rear pistons, 2 of the 6 fronts. THe other rear piston is activated by the cantilever-mounted left front caliper pushing against a 3rd master cylinder when the drag from braking moves it on its pivot. Something like that anyway. |

oh, ok. So, the braking bias isn't 50/50, I was just curious. |

| Re: The only time I don't like LBS... Bleeding was a pain, but I disliked them most while "adventure touring".
Going down steep, rut and gravel filled, dirt roads (more like fire trails) in the mountains were quite nerve racking when you knew the front could lock up and wash out if you weren't really careful with the back brake. Much nicer with non-linked brakes where you could drag and slide the rear to keep you pointed in the right direction. |

I was out riding around the outside edge of Laguna (out lap) when he came around the outside of me on the tiger teeth, and then threw a roost when he hit the dirt, in turn 4...with a student on back.
We had a laugh about it in the class session afterwards. |
