Will do. First order will be to ditch the stock plastic undertray and fabricate a custom undertray out of sheet aluminum to provide 1) more clearance for the mufflers and 2) heat resistance for the seat/battery/electrics, etc. |

| Re: Next project: Custom DEVIL dual underseat exhaust. Thanks for all the words of encouragement guys. Should turn out pretty nice I think.
BTW, I've only got a grand total of $425 Cdn into it at this point. By the time I get the custom pipework fabbed up and deduct the sale of my Micron CF highmount, I should be somewhere under $500 hopefully.
Even more progress and pictures http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/i...dpost&p=257658 |

| Re: Next project: Custom DEVIL dual underseat exhaust. I like what I see. Do you think you'll have any clearance issues with the rear tire? The Devil cans look much better than the Wolf, imo...

| Re: Next project: Custom DEVIL dual underseat exhaust. thats some damn nice custom work. I like the naked aluminum look but a nice black powdercoat will look good also.
I read you were thinking of maybe cutting the pipes down. I'd leave them as is, they don't really stick out too far and I'm assuming you aren't 12ing the bike.

| Re: Next project: Custom DEVIL dual underseat exhaust. There is a guy in Whitecourt with a custom VFR, all in pearl white. I think he did a CBR front end and un-linked the brakes. You wouldn't happen to know of the guy would you? His bike was featured in Cycle Canada a few issues back. |

Someone else suggested cutting the cans. I'm treating that as an absolute last resort.
Going to get it running and put some miles on it to see what it sounds like, but I think not.
I agree that they don't really stick out too far.

We've ridden together a few times, and I've ridden his bike.
He's the guy that got me started on the fork mod.
He's got an Ohlins R&T fork for an RC51 on his VFR, plus an Ohlins shock out back.

| Re: Next project: Custom DEVIL dual underseat exhaust. Next on the list is to make a slight mod on the forward portion of the undertray for more clearance and then fab the hanger brackets for the twin cans plus a rear support bracket for the taillight housing.
After that, I'll take the bike to Edmonton to have the custom up-pipe and Y pipe fitted. It'll look something similar to the WOLF plumbing except it'll be a 2" splitting into two 1.5" at the Y. |

Bike is in the shop for the custom pipework, pipes are actually finished right now (haven't seen them yet) and they are currently off being Jet-Hot coated. |

Let's just say I didn't want anything vibrating off or cracking, etc.
Anyhow, even if it's heavier than the Micron setup I had on there before, it's certainly lighter than the stock exhaust by a long shot. |

| Re: Next project: Custom DEVIL dual underseat exhaust. So the exhaust is finished now. I rode it for about two hours today and it sounds great. Not louder then the Micron really, just sounds "different".
Pictures of the final product: VFRD -> Custom Devil Dual underseat exhaust project
I'm actually glad it's not 'MotoGP' loud, I'd hate to piss off the locals and the Gendarmes, accrue a fistful of tickets and ultimately have to remove the dang thing.
I think it might be a tad louder over 4500RPM, but when I'm just trolling along at legal speeds, it actually seems quieter. Though that might be because the pipes are behind me instead of beside me as before.
I'll have to follow behind the bike to be sure. |

| Re: Next project: Custom DEVIL dual underseat exhaust. Hey everyone, still busy putting the finishing touches on the system.
I had the stock subframe and custom aluminum undertray ceramic coated in flat black.
Also got the stock headers ceramic coated to match the custom up-pipe.

| Re: Next project: Custom DEVIL dual underseat exhaust. I just realized that all the VFRdiscussion links I posted earlier don't work anymore. That's because of the hacker attack we had last year, a lot of stuff was lost.
Anyhow, I re-posted the thread and here is a good link as of 8/2/07: Custom Devil Dual Underseat Exhaust System - VFRD |
