| 1995 VFR Info Needed Pics Added I've found a well-cared for '95 that needs a new home. I haven't seen it yet but it has less than 6k on it. My dad has taken a look and says it's in great shape. He thinks the only thing it's missing is the rear seat cowl. Was that a stock item? Anyone have one taking up space in the garage?
I've pretty much agreed to buy it and will be deciding whether or not to keep it after some test-rides.
How is it as a sport-tourer?
Any other cool stuff or gotchas to look for?

| Re: 1995 VFR Info Needed Awesome bike. I rode one with 75000Km on it and it still had lots of snap. (and didn't use any oil) Great handling, quick, comfortable, perfect for sport touring. |

| Re: 1995 VFR Info Needed I had one of these, good bike for sports-touring. The rear cowl was provided with the bike, so try one of the US VFR sites to see if you can find one if yours is missing. If the mileage is really that low, you might hit some problems when you start riding it, but they're pretty bullet proof.

| Re: 1995 VFR Info Needed That was my first bike! Excellent Bike! Comfortable, fun to ride... As already said they are bullet proof. Mine had a TON of miles on it before I bought it and it still took real good care of me! The only problem that I had and heard is pretty common is a bad reg/rectifier. Other than that I can't say enough good things about the bike! (but as said, that was my first bike so I didn't have alot to compare to
I bought mine Salvaged and I didn't get a cowl, so I can't say anything about that. |

| Re: 1995 VFR Info Needed Here are some good sources of information for you:
In a nutshell, the VFR from that era is a great bike - the main issues as I recall are the usual Regulator/rectifier weaknesses and some starter-clutch issues brought on by use of some synthetic oils. Do a search on the archives, above. |

| Re: 1995 VFR Info Needed Great bikes. Had a 94 for 55,000 miles before selling it to try the 800. Dumped the 800 and am back on a 94 VFR, which had 36,000 miles on it when I bought it. Other than things the previous owner did (bad jetting job, poor maintenance, etc.) nothing wrong with it.
They came with the cowls new (though some dealerships didn't always remember to give them out), and I have one at home still in the box that I haven't gotten around to selling, so if interested PM me and we can work something out.
I tour on mine all the time and love it. Big enough to be comfortable, small enough to handle where you want it. With some luggage (GIVI's) I've done several week to 2 week trips with it all over the country.
Weak points are the regulators and rear shocks. The original regulators didn't have enough heat dissipation and got hot, coupled with a main connector that was prone to corrosion and increased resistance. Personally I haven't had an issue, and replacing with the new version and watching the connectors solves the problem.
The rear shock goes soft quickly. An upgrades suspension makes a great bike even better. I now do that to all of my bikes.
Good luck and enjoy .... and be sure to join your fellow VFR riders in our fall (WDGH in VT/NH) and Spring (COTU in OH/WV) rides. |

| Re: 1995 VFR Info Needed Thanks for the info guys. I'm looking forward to getting a ride on the bike. It turns out the owner had the cowl after all.
I saw some soft bags and a trunk by Cortech. I'll do another search, but does anyone have experience with them? |

| Re: 1995 VFR Info Needed I sold my '95 with 40,000 miles on it and regret it. It was a great bike. I did track days and sport tour all over the northeast and Nova Scotia with it and loved every minute. Replaced battery, voltage regulator, front wheel bearings, gas gauge sender, some instrument panel light bulbs that Honda probably charged ten bucks a piece for. Otherwise, it ran like you'd expect a Honda to. Had a CF Two Bros. slip-on that sounded absolutely wonderful. V-4 with gear driven cams oh, be still my heart. Began to get a voltage leak that mostly went away with a thorough cleaning of grunge on the various harness connectors. I really miss that bike.
Think I still have the shop manual. yours for the taking. Ahh, but you're so far away in Dover and all. It'd be too much trouble. |

Some of us own cars instead of horses down here now, so the trek might be possible. Maybe we can trade for a lunch in New Castle. I know a place with decent wings and a pretty good view. It would be a great excuse to get some guys together for a ride. |

Less than 6k miles on a '95. 1) That's just about the same as zero miles. 2) It's a crime that a bike like that has just about zero miles. Enjoy. |

I only go there once or twice a year anyway. There's a new place down here in Dover. We could show you the back roads out here, as long as you don't spread the word about them.
I couldn't believe 5,400 either. I looked at my 1yr old RC yesterday and saw almost 4k on the clock. |

| Re: 1995 VFR Info Needed Pics Added I'll see what my schedule looks like. The manual is a Clymer that goes up to 1994. There were no changes to the '95. It's not an official Honda manual but it is the one the Honda dealer was selling at the time and is actually pretty good. I've used it for all the regular stuff and including taking the gas tank apart, and all the bodywork and instrument panel stuff when I dropped it. But, I'd rather not bring up that sad chapter, nor the one where I sold it and the buyer totaled it immediately. |

Yep. Parked next to a '98+ red VFR you will see that the '95 has almost a magenta pearlescent hue.
Gorgeous bike, well done. |

Thats a good pick up on the 95 and a good price.

| Re: 1995 VFR Info Needed Pics Added Thanks for the and the links.
I've changed the oil, cleaned and waxed the chain, and put almost 250 miles on her so far. Saturday we got out for a 150 mile ride and I felt like I could have easily gone another 150!
A few questions:
1) The bike seems to be ideal for my daily commute and some sport-touring days. All it needs are some bags or cases. I've been looking at the Cortech soft-bags (around $200 for the set,) but would really prefer to find some hard-bags (without spending a grand.) Anyone have an opinion or suggestion?
2) I've had a blast on the Viffer out in the twisties near my house. The engine is smooth, the V-Four sounds great, and I've been pleasantly surprised by how much power the 750 puts out! I've been wanting to go to track school(s) for a long time and may finally get to go. Risking the RC isn't an option, so what do you think about this bike for a track day/track school newbie? I know it would be expensive to repair if crashed, but relatively speaking I don't have much invested to begin with. |
